PANTONE® dictates the colour of 2022!

In a bid to siphon ever more money from hackneyed and derivative Creative Professionals, PANTONE® has decreed the official Colour of the Year for 2022! Get your face into its most neutral, WTF-ready expression, because you’ll soon find the pose prompted once you try to parse this paragraph:
Summarised as, “It’s blue, but also red!”
You can read (but not learn) more of the same here:
Now rush forth and make good use of this invaluable wisdom, because heaven forbid you ever have some originality. Look, they’re even generous enough to sell you some swatches right there!
-
So much I could say here, but invariably all of it would be a variation of an MS Teams joke.
-
Think of this as an opportunity to troll useless cow-orkers.
Q: Why aren't you using the crappy corpo-PR-blessed templates and styles that we've overpaid some designer to create?
A: The templates simply aren't very peri. Hasn't PR heard of the 2022 color of the year? There's no trace of it in their visual guidelines, and that would make us look very outdated and uncool.etc.

A.k.a purple. Usually not considered neither blue nor red but a colour unto itself.

@kazitor Written not unlike a wine snob. I'm pretty sure this was verbatim described to me during a wine tasting a couple years ago, but with maybe one or two words changed.

I've got an idea: they should sell it as an NFT.

I'm sure that, every year, there's a bunch of marketers in a conference room, deciding on the color of the year, because every time Pantone picks a new color, they get a bunch of sales. So the marketroids are sitting there saying things like "eh... how about one of the lavenders?" "...nah, we did reddish last year. Maybe it's time for a chartreuse?" until, finally, the loudest one shouts "PERIWINKLE!" and everyone else says "fine, periwinkle, can we go home now? You picked the color, you write the copy."
-
@TwelveBaud that wasn't even the post I thought I was replying to. Well, doubling down.

@sloosecannon Not very peri?
-
@kazitor I'm torn. It looks like Sun™ plum, which I really like. But yeah. I wonder what would happen if one year, their entire blurb for CotY would be "Looks nice, innit?"
The world feels like it needs some more strategically-placed bluntness sometimes.

But here’s the thing. Peri-peri sauce is not peri-squared colour, unless I am much mistaken.

I remember finding, way back in the days of Windows 2000, an image somewhere of an elephant's arse, and configured it as my work PC's desktop wallpaper, and as my lock-screen wallpaper, and eventually (once I figured out how to do it) as the login-screen wallpaper. Nobody much ever bothered my PC.

They call that purple. Purples can be red based (warm) or blue based (cool).
I read Pantene, so I was thinking hair color. This I think is much worse.

It's #6667ab. 2022's colour is #6667ab.
It is indeed mostly blue, but also it's red. In trivia, it's slightly more green than red, but I guess we're not talking about that.
