So it begs the question... Why "CarrotBoy"?umm, no it doesn't. It leads to the question Why "CarrotBoy"?
Um, no, it doesn't. Actually, it leads to the question "Why 'CarrotBoy'?".
No. It leads to the question, "Why 'CarrotBoy'?".
(I'm not actually sure on that, but it's still fun.)
Not quite. It leads to the question: "Why 'CarrotBoy'?"

Youch. The lesson (and the source of the WTF) is, always test it without the loop. Then put the loop in, and make sure that any exceptions stop it dead.

My old job had a real problem with change control. Since we refused to actually force our customers to upgrade to the latest version on a recent interval, anytime a bug was fixed I had to post the fix to about 5 different code branches. For each of those branches, a project manager had to approve the fix and add it to an access list before I could check it in.
They had a frequent habit of not telling me when my stuff was on the access list, until right before the build. So I wrote a simple script to monitor the access list and SMS me whenever my bugs got added. Of course it broke while I was on vacation. One message every 5 minutes all night long and no way to stop the thing from where I was.
I'm working on a system that calculates statistics on all the transactions that goes in and out of our company - which is slightly more than a million a day.
To handle these amounts of data, we do lots of preprocessing in nightly jobs;
Ubuntu user reporting ;). I downloaded the cab-file without any problems, using Firefox 1.5 on Ubuntu 6.06...
And I wouldn't consider changing from Ubuntu to XP an upgrade anyway.
What's wrong with a good old fashioned "N/A"?
Especially since the same issue should apply to every OS...

The OS is the platform.

"Dear Google,
I have found a bug in your Google Maps service. A big one indeed.
In fact, I worry for my life, that it might come and eat me.
So please, won't you fix this bug in a hurry? I'm sure you can ask
the German military to aid you in the struggle against this bug.
The bug in question can be sighted here, in all it's scary godzilla-like

Hilarious! :D
"How much is this car?"
"That one is just 33 T-Rexes and 99 Raptors"
This might not really be a wtf because it is so common, but anyways. I was browsing merily along on the Internet, visiting, amongst other things, a page featuring certain dynamic and ajax driven "homepage" funktionality, hosted by a large web search company with an afinity for big numbers.
I said to myself "this feature is cool, wonder how they did it", and decided to view the source code for the web page:

And that's when I stopped wondering "how they did it".

Well there's something to be said for living in a world where everyone is lying to you. At least then you know where they stand.
Lying's only a problem when you don't recognize it.
We all know about the stability of Microsoft software, or rather, the lack of stability. Even so, I felt confortable about organising my music, and stumbled upon a folder with .WMA music files, that I thougt I'de like to hear. And what better way to play back all these tracks than the "Play All" link in the left side of my explorer window?
Maybe I should have thought it through before clicking. As a developer, I should know better, right? But click the link I did, and even though I'm usually up for a coding challenge, I decided that this was not the day, I wanted to debug explorer.exe.
