I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
I have robocopy scripts backing up my "Users" directory every night, to two different places. Just like I do with "Documents and Settings" on my XP machines. Well today I've decided to hell with that, I'm not using the Microsoft User folders anymore, they always get too cluttered with junk. So I go to delete them and ... I CAN"T! And we're not talking about the files that are on the Vista machine and probably in use. These are copies of the files sitting on a 2003 server!
"Filenames are too long"
"Can't delete file:"
Reboot...
"Filenames are too long"
"Can't delete file:"
Boot to safe mode...
"Filenames are too long"
"Can't delete file:"
UNBELIEVABLE.
So, thanks for the /XJ tip, I'll add that one to the arsenal. But I'll be avoiding the Users directory like the plague from now on.
