Of course, TRWTF is that it wants to install to the "Reader 10.0" folder when it's actually Reader 10.0.1.

The source for the page is pretty WTFy too. I particularly like the redundantly redundant repetition and the complete lack of "else" statements, but seriously... would it have been that hard to just stick all the data in an array?
Thanks for the tip. Just had a look at the source and... yeah. Not much to say except: if (selectedtype == "1170").

RE: Why is Everybody so clueless on the importance of Desktop Search to the Masses?
SSDS is the manifestation of mankind's sin
The mind control powers of SpectateSwamp are fearsome indeed. 39 pages of pure drivel based on one of the worst ideas for *anything* I have ever seen. I was even considering rewriting the crapplication myself just to make it go away. But I realise it's never going away. The dreams of ProjectGutenberg.txt won't stop. Make it go away.

That is just you and your retarded connection then. For the rest of us we see things happen almost instantly on the web.
Prove it. I want a Screen shoot using a camcorder. And get somebody to help you by holding the camera. Otherwise you'll never live it down. (making bad video)
Don't be a whining do nothing MasterSwamp
MasterSwamp... excellent. I think this is how he gets "users". He mangles usernames and adds Swamp to them.
And then he calls you a user. Well done, MPS

Re: SSDS 30 time Faster than Copernic
I really liked your video StolenSwamp. However, you don't have all the (text) files in your home directory in one large text file, there's no random video playback, no large, scrolling font and no background subprocesses so how can you call this a fair comparison? The Greppler may be awesome but SSDS is the future of awesome.
Nice camera work, but it was too clear. No shaky shaky. And the writing was legible. Perhaps you need to spend some time at the SwampShack?

So then you know that SSDS is broken and doesn't even do what you claim it does?
Enough questions. Where are the Search Giants? How come they haven't shown up here yet. Do I have to do their testing and demos. Why is that preview screen so terribly slow? Does anybody here try anything or just sit and babble. The last search Giants were Old Greppler himself and the Vax/Dec search program developers. Maybe one or two of them would put in a comment or two here. If they dare.
Oho I like that Swamparoonie. "If they dare". Mighty, powerful words. Why don't you ask them instead of hanging around on forums bothering us? Have you tried contacting them?
Do you know how to?

JoeSwamp is right. Mess with the catalog file a bit and do even more strange displays. Ie add freeze frame to them all. Set it to slow motion for even more video entertainment.
Oh great... and here I thought unscrewing the casing of my MFM HDD and opening it to hear a disturbing tearing sound was my finest moment in computing.
But no, it turns out it gets better. JoeSwamp.
I have no better way to end this than Yellowhead, Yellowhead, Yellowhead.

What is everyone complaining about? SSDS is the only desktop search engine I know of that can RANDOMLY play back all of my VIDEOS in 2sec segments
Actually, it cannot even do that: http://www.mediafire.com/?cbn3vyy0hdd
Hmmm... it's video, so I can accept this as fact. I hereby declare mysef proven wrong.
And another thing...
SpectateSwamp: Redrawing the second hand in red (meaning you edited the image) is not the same as showing a direct comparison, from the beginning, of the power of SSDS vs Copernic. But nice try though. I think one of the users here is a 12-year-old-girl and she was almost fooled.

SSDS ftw
What is everyone complaining about? SSDS is the only desktop search engine I know of that can RANDOMLY play back all of my VIDEOS in 2sec segments (with pause and resume functionality no less), have RANDOM, LARGE FONT text messages zooming across the screen at UNBELIEVABLE speeds (surely too fast to be true!), can display QUESTIONS in a THOUGHT PROVOKING way ("Why oh why did I install this?"), and MERGE all my text files into one large file which, I may add, is so much faster to BACKUP than 1000s of little files (that I don't really need) that would take much longer to copy than ONE LARGE FILE.
Whatever else SSDS may be, it's the best in its class.

RE: Mini WTF. How many people does it take to ping a test computer?
@niwde83 said:
Y:\>ping 127.0.0.1
The current directory is invalid.
Right. So, it seems that Windows gives up looking for ping when the cwd is not accesible.
It isn't accesible, because they.... ;-)
Here comes captain obvious! The answer is: H drive was unavailable because they disconnected from the network, and H drive was mapped to something on the network.
Now let's hope captain obvious was correct or captain obvious will have to go cut himself.

One does indeed :) -

In addition, are Home/End different on a Mac or is it just Safari? I notice that Home and End scroll to the top/bottom of a page, rather than the much saner Windows behaviour of jumping to start/end of line. I can Apple+Left/Right to get normal Home/End functionality, so it's ok, I guess, even though now there's no way of jumping word-by-word, which I use extensively when travelling long lines with my cursor boots on.
This is proper Mac behavior. And you're being platform-centric, of course; whenever circumstances are unfortunate enough that I'm using Windows, I can't figure out how the hell I'm supposed to quickly go to the HOME or END position of a document without mashing the PgUp/PgDn buttons -- so Windows behavior is "insane" to me.
Moving the cursor one word at a time can be accomplished with Option-Left and Option-Right. Option-Up and Option-Down goes to the beginning or end of a paragraph. Entire words can be deleted one at a time with Option-Delete.
Having only really used Windows, I'm used to using Ctrl+Home, Ctrl+End, Ctrl+Left, Ctrl+Right etc. Doubt I could face the horror of learning the same key combinations but using the Option key instead of the Control key. Perhaps I'd also just start mashing the Pg Up/Pg Dn keys instead.

RE: Why is Everybody so clueless on the importance of Desktop Search to the Masses?
Just looking at my bookshelf here, wondering where I put my copy of "Hogfather" and, suddenly, I find myself wondering... does SpectateSwamp have books?
Or does he video them all in page by page and then burn them to save space?
If he does have books, has he ripped out all the pages from other books and stuck them in one big book that has tabs sticking out at various places?
No... stop thinking about it. This path leads to madness.
