Pffft, was the topic about misogyny?
I tried to stay on topic but was pulled into the flames like the rest of us.
He went off topic with capitalism.
You have to laugh at the stupid, otherwise you would cry...17% risk of default? Try 83%...but hey its free market capitalism.
Well I think it is getting better for women. I do geek out when I see one or two stray into IT. Nothing barring them...we are not a good old boy culture. None seems to be too interested in my neck of the woods. Plus 'baby clocks' take a lot of them out early... Girls in my daughter's high school drop like flies. It's sad when she mentions someone I think could operate well IT and alas, is knocked up. Opportunity snatched right from her young hands.
I wish I had time to give you real world examples of the very thing you are arguing against, but I have to get back to my castle clash quest chain.
The short of it is that @Buddy is more right than wrong and I can tell he doesn't give a shit one way or the other (even more right).
One of my answers, which I removed, had to do with programmers and writing code. Because writing a book and writing programs are the same thing. Except your audience is narrowly focused in the latter, sometimes to the point that you are the only audience.
Choose the best answer that describes you:
Give me the name of your book and a link where I can buy it....Thanks!
Ah HA! I knew this was a magnetic resonance angiogram
So then, we are all big and small blood vessels of the head and neck that show up on screens.

Mmmm, well then, I would recommend caution and maybe some mandrake, caster beans, a sharpened spike, and willow bark. Maybe hang a corpse of a squirrel on your fence.

Its like an all in one tool but its different.

HAHA! Crystal reports were the wet dreams of meeting drones 1997 to 2002. We had this in Coldfusion it was called Report Builder. I did a ton of Report Builder stuff for daily, weekly and monthly meeting masturbation sessions...and then on day, poof! no more Report Builder requests.
I'm sure it is still used but NO ONE I know uses it.
I haven't touched it since 2006. It is still a part of Coldfusion (in a dark corner of the codebase somewhere).
I generally wonder why that is?
Now that I said all this, I bet I will get a job ticket handed to me in the near future that will be report builder stuff.

Ha! I just patched our servers a month ago because someone created a hijack tool that unrolled shit into peoples webservers and it took advantage of this very thing. The idiots that created it didn't think that bitcoin minerd on CPUs = pegged to death.
You understand leverage pretty well.
We will, at some point, pay back those glorious stock market gains. The higher we go the more risk gets compounded. People say we are in a bubble. I don't know, but here is a market quote I like.
(Paraphrasing)...
Market crashes: You need to decide, do you want to look like a fool before the crash, or after?

That would explain the cocain. Sub-prime is back. I heard that this time it is running rampant in auto-financing.
If I can't create my fun amazing programming idea in less than a weekend, then it usually never gets done.
Ah...Sometimes the good senses gene skips a generation. Others have it but it might not be pronounced enough to matter. But, being new and doing coke around your coworkers you only barely have grown accostumed to is perverse.
What type of company did these insane founders create?

Fuck it. Now I am going to find a Vic 20 on ebay with a tape drive and recreate my problem.

I think it was a bad computer to learn coding on. Plus I had no one to talk to/guide me. My dad was a mechanic so there wasn't much help there and none of my friends were interested or curious about programming.
Filed under: A series of bummers stymied my programming growth :)
I had a Commodore Vic 20 with a tape drive. I had a game on it called Radar Rat Race (cartridge). I got a book from the Library that allowed me create a dragon on my screen that blew fire (along with other things). It was pretty rudimentary but I was excited to program. The code was Basic. I typed out that entire program and tried to run it but I think I had missed something. That was when I was 12...20 years later I would discover what a compiler was. Finally answering that 20 year coding mystery that had burdened me for so long. I also discovered that even if I had a compiler I wouldn't have room to put it on that system. I never figured out how to save stuff to the tape drive either. So I used it to play carterige games.
Edit: it looks like it might have had a compiler built in so then I think it was operator error transcribing. Hmmm. There could have been more than a few problems...
Hey wait. This repo has code that does something. Explain again the purpose?
You have true talent useful for evil intent.
I appreciate that.

At our shop we have summer hours and get off at 2 pm (of course only if we take 30 minute lunches during the rest of the week).
What do you guys think I should do with all this time on my hands?
So many options and I'm just so confused.
It won't work on your phone (mobile movie and music machine).

Why don't you and Jeff give this project to them with a set of search touch points, sit back and watch the magic.
If I can create a set of search tools for mhsdoctors.com using stored procs and text file derived search criteria plus caching AND geolocation then I know your guys can do it too...
Sam...I think you should bother with this later...Not a good time to change things ATM.
But think about this: On the search query window where it says to search more, break us out of the dropdown select textfield and take us to a 'search page' with some 'basic' and 'advanced' search mechanics so we can do more. You don't need to get ajaxy, just post back search results...
Unless someone you or others are opposed to this sort of thing. Not sure what the sentiment is on search tools.
Just wow...I bet the swap file is being anal-ized right now. Hard.
@mott555 Holy cow...you'll get the "I broke discourse the best" award for sure. Amazingly breaking the hell out of my experience...

I agree that search is a little weird OR I just don't know what I am doing. It never feels like I am getting what I want. I actually bookmark topics or <3 things as a result because it is easy to troll my profile history and pick out the things I am looking for.

oh shit...I better make a new poll. Stat.
I fucking love polls. They are a fun way to make crappy topics interesting.
But I recommend adding a condition in the code somewhere to constrain how many can be made per day, or a monthly quota by user.
