RE: The Official Status Thread
Would BML be stronger or less strong than FML?
Yes, Business Mortgage Loan is stronger or less strong than Full Maintenance Lease.

RE: Science!
You start with 7, so that would be 2 dwarves, 5+ corpses, 1 fortress.

RE: TDWTF: now with WTF daily.
Why doesn’t it reload the whole page and put you back where you were? If it’s to avoid interrupting the user, maybe displaying a modal dialog is not the best way either...
The best way would probably be to stop updating things (since the user is not doing anything it’s not a big deal) and just reload the whole page when Discourse needs to make an AJAX call to load more posts or a topic.
Since it only happens during extended periods of inactivity, interrupting the user is a non-issue. Leaving your browser open to a single topic for hours is Doing It Wrong.

RE: The duplicate post filter works really well.
@AnonymousTDWTFer says @Matches shouldn't go near @Gasoline
I didn't write that!

RE: The NEW Official Unofficial Discourse bug tracker!
And we have a winner for the first bug.
<a href="DiscourseBugs.com">DiscourseBugs.com</a>
That link would go to http://what.thedailywtf.com//t/the-new-official-unofficial-discourse-bug-tracker/DiscourseBugs.com, which isn't a thing.

RE: TDWTF: now with WTF daily.
It will automatically reload when you click a link, or if you don't click a link for a few hours, it pops up that message. It won't happen if you're actively browsing the forum.

RE: Pet Peeve: MSSQL installer
I want a window manager without support for z-indices.
I mean, if a 3D-rendered scene can have multiple things in the same place, why can't my desktop?

RE: The Official Good Ideas Thread™
That sounds like you'd get improper mixing or the wrong proportions or something.

NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THAT IN THE HISTORY OF DOTA

RE: Apple Watch
Lemme get this straight:
It's a watch, the thing that sits on your wrist and tells the time.
But it costs $350 and if you get it wet you have to buy a new one.
And it has a full color backlit screen so it can... show you that it's currently 12:18. Yep, totally need something more advanced than the calculator I had in first grade for that.
For that matter, the TI-84 I had in high school has a bigger screen and costs more than three times less. It also tells the time, just like every other electronic device ever made.
So we're supposed to wear a phone on our wrist that just tells us the time, have another phone for texting pictures of our junk to 4chan (and apparently our credit card information as well) and a third phone for when we're at home and we need to look up a broken version of a website and the computer is all the way over there.
Also, all the features they announced as "nobody has ever done this before" are currently available in Android and Windows phones and have been since about two years ago. I'm excited to see what new features the iPhone 8 has when Samsung announces them next week.

RE: How To Demoralize Employees: A DIY Guide for Terrible Companies
If I had something that would take 30 minutes, would doubling it and increasing the unit of measurement take 24 hours or 60 hours?
-
RE: How To Demoralize Employees: A DIY Guide for Terrible Companies
So if I think watching this 30 second YouTube video will take 30 seconds, it'll actually take 90 seconds?

RE: Damn you autopredict.
Linux user: "I want it to be free, at any cost."
Windows user: "I want it to work, at any cost."
Mac user: "I don't want to be associated with either of the two previous groups, at any cost." -

Here, the spec:

RE: Markdown Drama Part III - The Revenge of the CommonMark
I mean, I have sites I'd like to share pagerank with, but for the sake of making a pun, a lawyer's website is not one of them.

RE: The Official Status Thread
If you have a computer that's always on, then you can just leave discourse logged in in a tab.
-
RE: Markdown Drama Part III - The Revenge of the CommonMark
David Gruber has really annoying TV commercials so I don't want to give him pagerank.

RE: Programming Confessions Thread
I've written this quite a few times:
for i := range someArray { // code here for i := range someArray[i].someField { foo := someArray[i].someField[i] // more code } }

Mine would be indistinguishable from normal @ben_lubar posts ketchup. The dove fly. Fly is in sky. The dove drop something. The something on the pig. The pig disgusting. The pig rattle. Rattle with dove. The dove angry. The pig leave. The dove produce. Produce is chicken wing. With wing bark. No Quack.

The most baffling article layout
Hmm, we have 20 images with short pieces of text related to them. What would be the best way to present an article like this?
I know! Let's make it into a slideshow so people on mobile browsers have to scroll up and down and click a bunch of times on a tiny icon in order to read our poorly cropped text-images.

Try it.

RE: Markdown Drama Part III - The Revenge of the CommonMark
"Hey, when I intentionally lock my front door, it immediately unlocks."
"Yeah, that's what locks are supposed to do, right?"
"When we give you a key that unlocks the door, the door needs to stay unlocked forever. WONTFIX ASDESIGNED"
Edit: Amazing, @sam marked my bug report (posts being mutated due to me having more permissions) as a feature request, and then @codinghorror said it was by design and closed the "feature request".
