NEC MobilePro 900c

  • I've always loved the form factor of the hand held PC, and over time I've owned several.  Unfortunately, the whole concept seemed to die a few years ago, and nobody makes them anymore.  What happened?

Also, I was looking around recently, and it looks like the last HPC in production was the NEC MobilePro 900c, which is now available on ebay for about $100  I'm thinking of buying one - my old HP 620lx was wonderful, but it's broken now, and I'd love to have a new HPC.  The only thing I'm worried about is that I can't seem to find any new batteries, and I don't want to spend $100 on a palmtop that is permanently tethered to my desk by an AC adapter.  Would buying one of these be a good idea?  Any thoughts?

  • The concept never died, you just may be looking in the wrong place. And they even come with vista these days. Here's a secection from an Irish seller http://www.expansys.ie/n.aspx?f=24
