WatchOS 10 designers: have y'all ever heard of muscle memory?
-
So my Apple Watch recently updated to WatchOS 10, and for no discernable reason(1), Apple decided to completely throw out the old "workflow" of navigating stuff in favour of a complete rework, such that none of the old methods work any more. Well, in strict point of fact, the things you could press or swipe or whatever still do things, but none of those things they do are the same as before.
OK, so maybe it wasn't obvious for a new user that you could get to ==>there by pressing <<==that button or whatever, but that doesn't excuse spitting on everyone's muscle memory.
(1) There are some attempts on the behalf of the fruity firm to justify it, based mostly on an unstated "We Did It Wrong in the original design" theory, but once the product is established, surely it's better to leave it alone. (Case in point, some time back SWTOR's developers swapped the "delete selected mails" and "claim attachments from selected mails" buttons for reasons that were never explained, not even inadequately. I'm sure I'm not the only player who unexpectedly lost mails because of that.)

@Steve_The_Cynic I recall which game it is, but half the time on popups OK is left and Cancel is right, the other half they are swapped. Probably applies to plenty of them, and hard to fix once it's established.

Apple fucking with things for no reason?

Might be cyberpunk. The button prompts change in different places and general ui is all over the place. Not to mention they change between patches too.

You should be thankful it got that update at all! Unlike some other people …

@LaoC Well, all I can say about the folks that bought the "solid gold" Apple Watch is "more fool them". But I would have said that even without reading about their software update woes.
-
@error The problem isn't so much "Apple fucked with something", but rather "Apple fucked with everything".

Wasn't there a trend there for a minute where front end designers where swapping ok and cancel buttons because ? Even though it had been established like 30+ years ago what order they should be in.
