Wooden Spoon: Boil, Fry, or ??

The wife informs me she is boiling the wooden spoons. For some reason I think it would be better to fry them. Who is right?

Depends on what you use them for. Most bacteria are killed by a few minutes' boiling, so water should suffice. Frying in oil might give a nice sheen though, and if you're in a hurry the higher temperature shortens the application time by a lot.
Do note that if you routinely handle prion-contaminated material, then frying in oil won't suffice. Most oils won't stand the temperatures required, but will start evaporating instead. So after that kind of work, you'll have to brulee them with a blowtorch instead.

I've got olive oil on hand, so I should be able to get pretty close to the char point of the wood.
