Retention Policy depends on data content. 15 years is about the maximum I regularly see.

6 months for a majority of data, and 1 year for the rest.
At my current gig. Normally I don't deal much with personal data, but this system is all about it.

We have stuff we need to keep for 40 years.

We have some stuff with 6 months max retention, some indefinite and some in the middle.

For some systems, seven years - long enough to comply with IRS rules.
For others, indefinitely (as the records are needed until both they and their spouse are dead).
