Select-to-quote not working?
-
Unless I developed some serious false memories, I used to be able to select some text in a post, then click on "reply", and only that part would be quoted. Now I don't seem to be able to.

@boomzilla OK, I think I figured it out. It's a Vivaldi bug.
I did some debugging and found out that the selection is immediately cleared on clicking the reply button (so the code works as intended and doesn't quote anything).
You might have noticed that Chrome, Firefox, and Edge don't let you select text inside links. Which used to be a normal thing that people could do? But either there's some stupid detail in the HTML5 specification that makes it break something else, OR some UI geniuses decided that people don't need to select text anymore because it interferes with drag-and-drop. There's a Chrome extension to restore that functionality, by injecting some javascript on every page.
Well, Vivaldi has that feature too. For some reason it must be interfering in a way that de-selects the text as soon as I click on reply (which is a link), even though I never did that before. As proof, I triggered the reply function via the console and it worked fine.
Edit: Vivaldi uses NodeBB for their forums by the way... so they should have noticed the problem by now, assuming it happens there too. I'm too lazy to make an account and check.

That makes the whole window move. But OK, that's the browser not being able to take over a display manager (KDE) feature, which I am fine with.

I've recently seen a an animation with this exact scene. It's got a lot of downvotes too...
