Azure Web Apps and Instance Hostnames
-
I'm currently trying to diagnose an issue where a website is being starved of DB connections, and as part of that, I want to see what Web Apps of ours are holding the most connections. Unfortunately, all I can get from SQL Server is a bunch of hostnames of the form
RD[12 hex digits]
, with no indication of what Web App they belong to.Does anyone know of a way to find out which hostname belongs to which Web App?

Are you able to update the connection strings in your apps to set the "Application Name" property for each of them?

I do indeed. Would that come out in
ProgramName
when I runsp_who2
?

@raceprouk Yes it does.
EDIT: That'll teach me not to take the time to fire up SSMS to double-check, instead of just blindly saying "yes". ;)
