Got logged out again.

Can't remember the previous thread, but @ben_lubar asked for a header, so here it is.

I don't see anything in the logs. :/
-
@ben_lubar What's the time-out period? I had the day off yesterday, so I wasn't logged in to the work machine that day.
At lunch a while ago I was OK, when I got back both my browsers were logged out. I have the "remember me" flag set.
-
@FrostCat I think it's just whenever redis hits the 100MB limit and deletes some of the older sessions. It's LRU, so it shouldn't delete sessions that were created a long time ago if they were accessed recently.
-
@ben_lubar Is it worth giving Redis a bit more space?
-
@RaceProUK redis holds its entire data set in memory, so 100MB of sessions is about as much as I can give it without causing mongo to swap constantly.

Well, I was foruming from this browser two days ago, that's all I can say.

So how about throwing money at it?

Fuck you! Throw money at it!
-
@ben_lubar How about, and be prepared this concept is so radical you might have a heart attack, putting the session data in Mongo?
-
Ok, while investigating a different issue I found that we have the
Days to remember user login sessions
setting set to the default of14
. Any suggestions on what I should change that to?

-
@ben_lubar Is that 14 days of no activity? I've got a session that's a month old.
-
@loopback0 I just checked my login cookie and it's set to expire on 2016-05-06 and I definitely didn't log in this week so I'm guessing you're right that it's 14 days of no activity.
-
@ben_lubar Then 14 days of no activity is fine IMO.
It doesn't really explain why, in the month that one session (which is for this browser) of mine has carried on, all my other sessions across different browsers on different devices have expired more than once.
-
@loopback0 there's two types of sessions - browser sessions which expire whenever your browser thinks your session is done and the 14-day sessions that you get by clicking "remember me" or using an SSO login type.
-
@ben_lubar said in Got logged out again.:
which expire whenever your browser thinks your session is done
So most of my browsers had the same idea about killing the session at the same time, despite the sessions not being started at the same time?
@ben_lubar said in Got logged out again.:
that you get by clicking "remember me"
Does that not default to ticked?

Browser sessions generally end when you close your browser.

checks yep. Defaults to ticked.

The sessions I complained about being ended aren't those. They survived several browser closures.

I've never unticked it (because I want it to remember them) and yet it still sometimes forgets them.

ETA: Actually, what @RaceProUK said. This is a humor forum, not a goddamn bank. You shouldn't EVER idle me out.
-

I don't think browsers would know what to do with a cookie set to expire in 25.27 quadrillion years.

How do you know, without trying.
And if it doesn't work, then set either an explicit "no expire", or however long it can reasonably be set and still work. 100 years is probably acceptable as a start.

Opened a browser at home just now, was logged out. Again.

@FrostCat do you perchance have something set to delete tracking cookies?
Edit:
-
@ben_lubar said in Got logged out again.:

I use Stylish, Adblock, and Ghostery. This seems pretty recent, just in the last few days--and I haven't made any settings changes.
-
@FrostCat What are your browser settings like? There's normally an option somewhere for deleting all cookies when you close all browser windows; maybe that's been activated?
-
@RaceProUK I remember "Spybot Search and Destroy" would delete all cookies ever if it could find them.
-
@ben_lubar CCleaner does the same thing
-
@RaceProUK No, because I open and close new windows all the time, and it's only happened a few times so far, recently, and only on this site.
-
Some more log outs today.
My phone (last active here Friday) and work laptop (last active here Thursday) both logged out today.
My personal desktop and laptop (both active here yesterday) stayed logged in.
X-Upstream on my personal laptop/desktop:

X-Upstream on my work laptop:X-Upstream:172.18.0.254:4570
No idea if it's possible to get it for my phone - the current session was started on the same external IP as my laptop/desktop but the previous session would have been started on a different IP.
Any idea? It's not the end of the world but it is irritating.
-
I got logged out at home again, and the "something went wrong" when trying to log back in just now.
-
My Ipad got logged out too. Phone and laptop did not.
-
Edge at work, I was logged out this morning.
-
Chrome on my personal desktop and my phone got signed out somewhere between Friday and a few minutes ago. The other two sessions are still going.
