The Oatmeal posted on FB: I'm starting to suspect that George R.R. Martin is the author behind 2016.

What a crummy birthday present for the Queen.

This is turning into a very bad year

@Karla I am not old enough to have been a fan of his, but my condolences to his fans, and his family, of course.

That guy was an undeniable musical prodigy, but like most prodigies, his talent was sort of wasted. He spent so much time arguing with publishers, and messing with his image, and all the other crap, that he never quite got around to producing some truly exceptional music. Mostly he's known for pop fluff.

Not from his fans. His biggest problem that since he really had no equal, he didn't have someone to to provide constructive feedback. Even prodigies produce crap sometimes.
He was extraordinarily prolific. He produced albums almost every year since he started and has a huge collection of unreleased stuff. I was able to get a bunch of unreleased stuff on CDs back in the 90s. I think because he produced so many albums so frequently they just didn't the same impact as like Michael Jackson who put out albums every few years and was much better at hyping them.
I hope his estate releases all the unreleased stuff at some point.
He wrote for many other stars. Besides being one of the best guitar players of all time he had a huge vocal range.
And I think he is absolutely beautiful.
His music helped me through plenty of teenage angst because I could get so lost into it. And this was back when we had cassettes. I actually had to flip the tape over to continue listening.
I still have a couple vinyl records of his. I actually don't have a record player but I can't get rid of them.

I hope people laugh at my funeral.
You should have your estate hire Pogo the Clown for the event, he's supposed to be really funny.
Oh, wait, he's not available anymore...
