The moralof this story is: don'timplement a kurobar.
According to @ben_lubar the notifications get auto-cleared after a while, I think.

@swayde no, that's unread topics. Notifications have their own unconfigurable timeout which I refuse to look up because I'm tired but which I think is a week.

It's not loaded in the post but quoting the post shows it in the preview.
Nothing I did got it to load in the post. Doesn't this delayed load for images shit have an off button?

Around https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/12685/the-official-funny-stuff-thread/7790, the same image is referenced several times shortly subsequent by multiple posts, and this appears to cause jellypotato when loading in.

Jelly potato is awful in the otters thread :(

Regarding the question of detecting image changing size while loading (before
onload
fires), you can't. What you can do is replace the image with a placeholder (of a fixed, known size) and then, when the image is completely loaded, swap it back in; at that point you'll know what size it is and you can adjust the viewport accordingly. However, I still don't understand why you don't just link to
#postnum
and let the browser figure out how to get there.
-
@anotherusername If you just go for the
#anchor
, the top of the post will end up under the top bar
-
@RaceProUK then position the anchor relative with a top of
-heightofnavbarinpx
.*looks at the CSS*... sort of like they're done now, actually. Except right now the nav bar on the default theme is apparently
82.85px
high and.topic [component="post/anchor"]
has a style oftop: -20px
, so it's off by about 63 px.If I change the CSS so that the rule has
top: -83px
, then #155 puts me exactly at the top of my other post. As it should.
