Some emoji updates.
Not sure how we ended up with an ancient version. Maybe docker hub broke or something. Building locally from now on.
Looks like it worked.
-
sorry about that; I managed to mess up the
legacy_hash
table, so we're on the latest backup (usually backups are every week, but my windows PC was dead this saturday)probably should have manually taken a backup before I did the maintenance, but
also the part where NodeBB would do a full database scan for every post's reply count is fixed now
-
fixed HTML sanitization
-
Will be rebooting the server to apply kernel updates and new CPU microcode.
Downtime will start at 21:00 UTC and should last about a minute.
Shouldn't affect us since we're on a dedicated server and aren't running arbitrary third party code, but better to be safe than sorry.

Updating to NodeBB 1.13 at 19:30 UTC.
-
Updating NodeBB at 05:30 UTC
-
Updating to NodeBB 1.13.2 and updating the YouTube Embed plugin
EDIT: Plus a bunch of emojis.
-
Just a quick reminder that bigotry is not tolerated on this site, and using the same tactics that neo-nazis try to use when I say this on other sites will work about as poorly here as it does there.
-
Updating to NodeBB 1.13.3 in a few minutes.
-
Applying additional bugfixes from NodeBB and adding the missing emojis.
-
Because there's been some confusion, I'd like to clarify that the only permanently banned user so far today was @Pakistaniescorts69.
-
None of the bans today (with the exception of the spam bot) happened due to a single incident, nor were any of them due solely to things that happened today.
Nobody should feel worried that they'll be banned for saying one wrong thing.
-
An article about what happened yesterday is now available:
-
3-day bans have been issued to several users who ignored repeated warnings that bigotry is not permitted and that the alt-right playbook will not work.
-
Because there has been some confusion, I would like to clarify: arguing is not banned. making jokes is not banned. you can absolutely be an asshole without being a bigot.
-
The recent bans have been removed. At the moment only @apapadimoulis and I are forum admins.
Alex is working up a statement about moderation and expectations for the future. It's past my bedtime, so please play nicely for the next 7 hours or so.

Updated from 1.14.0-7 to 1.14.3.
Plus lots of new emojis.
-
Updated some plugins, thought I had Twitter embeds fixed, but now iframely is timing out when attempting to embed them for some reason.
-
Reverted to previously working iFramely.
-
E_NOT_NODEBB
I updated the SSL certificate. In theory it should be automatically renewed when it expires in...February. Otherwise, I guess I'll be doing this again.
-
Oops. Stuff should be back now.
Also, edits should show up immediately without needing to refresh.
-
Status: Server was down. Alex restarted it or something from the OVH panel.
-
Finally got @Zecc's new emojis deployed:
