Unfortunately, due to some idiotic decision in the past, 01234.3 is an octal number due to the leading 0.
Which environment supports floating point octal?

At least that format has an
x
(not a valid decimal digit) instead of just the0
(a perfectly valid decimal digit), you can't accidentally create a hexadecimal number from a decimal number like you can with octal.

It would probably take at least a year for anyone to notice, and that's assuming that I, by some chance, happened to be involved with database management.
