J-Pop?
-
She's much more "pop-y" than the other three, tbh. Considering one of those was Japanese Thrash Metal according to the hedgehog. BERRY ROLL reminds me of Guitar Vader, which is probably as far as you can get from pop. They didn't last long.
-
I define "pop" more as the "feel" of the music, than the type. Yes, one of them was definitely metal, but all of the three's top songs have that: "bidi-bidi-bii-bii; tsu-tsu-bo-bii; hi-hi-gamba-gamba" kind of cadence to them that I don't care for.
I prefer vocals like LiSA/YUI/AKINO from Bless4 with that rise and HOLD pattern to them, and that breathless cadence like they are just barely keeping up with the music. And the underlying guitar for all of them just going, you know? The faster, the better. I am not a fan of metal riffs, or pop-y patterns, I want it to rock, but SOAR. AKINO from Bless4, and LiSA and YUI all do that VERY well
-
How about Garnidelia? Their song, Lucifer just played on my spotify, followed by Anytime, Anywhere by Deardrops. I'm completely cheating now.
-
I have Garnidelia
Also have Eir Aoi ;)
-
Anytime, Anywhere by Deardrops
Just listened to Anytime, Anywhere by Deardrops ... I like her voice, but the pacing of that song is too slow, and no rise and hold
It isn't too pop-y though, so I am going to check out their catalog and see if I can find something with a few more BPM

I know I mentioned them before, but:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc00-nNxI4o
Nothing like the rest of the stuff I've mentioned.
-
A little more metal than I prefer, but not bad ... not bad
-
I will listen to anything from Kajiura Yuki. I am living in Japan currently.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZijw8n5GM0
-
Here is another one. I think he is actually a Swed.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INKCPOQL98c
-
Definitely. She's done many full soundtracks, and everything she does is pretty great.
-
I just loop her soundtracks to stop my brain from over-engineering my code and stick to the plan I made before I started coding. Definitely good to keep one motivated at work.
When I really need to get fired up to do anything at all, I will just start with any song from Jam Project.
-
@WPT, I like her voice, but the song is way too slow for my tastes, I am checking out Jam Project now
@Ascendant, playback is disabled for the video you added -- but I don't generally like male vocals anyway ;)

The girls are cute, and their voices are OK. But, not the style I am looking for. Also ... It's ... it's in English ... o_O
Spotify ... lies. Do not approve

So I was going to post a video here which first I saw years ago - it stuck in my mind because it was so ridiculous, and I always thought it was a great (= crazy, over-the-top) example of J-pop.
Then, just before sending this post, I googled the artist to make sure it's actually J-pop, and it turned out he's actually South Korean, so it's K-pop, and I've been living a lie for all these years. Now I obviously don't care about anything anymore, so here it is anyway. Watch the video, too, it's fun.
-
Man that's over the top. I raise you a Japanese song that it reminded me of:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_updvjugTw
Yours sounds like most hiphop now anyway.
-
That does sound remarkably similar.
-
Another change of direction:
-
Once more, with gusto!
-
I appreciate the suggestions, keep them coming
For this one, pretty voice, okay beat (but way too slow), but no rise, and no hold like LiSA/YUI/etc. so ...
-
Right, then I'll give you some GiDeMo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdPwvBJiQJY
And then some Supercell:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiVkKYw8Iao
And some Egoist:
-
I have been investigating GiDeMo on my own, actually. I am undecided on them right now.
Supercell I know about. They have some good stuff, but most of it is too slow for me.
Didn't know about Egoist. The song you linked isn't QUITE what I am looking for, but it is DAMN CLOSE. I will look at them more, thanks

@Magus I found a new one!
Hey @Magus I found a new one I really like:
Artist is: 鈴木このみ
Album is: TVアニメ「 ノーゲーム・ノーライフ 」 オープニングテーマ「 This game 」 【通常盤】 Single, MaxiBest song on it, I think, is: "This Game"
I just discovered her, so she may have better songs, I am working my way through her catalog now :D
-
@Vaire I can read just enough to know thats the No Game No Life opening. That show was fun.
-
@Magus Never seen the show, but I LOVE that song! ^_^
-
@Vaire Interesting. It's the kind my mind just skips over for the most part, not bad, but not interesting to me. I know there are many more like it.
-
@Magus What?! o_O
It has very fast piano + guitar, female vocals, and it shreds.
WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?!
-
@Vaire It's more a stylistic thing to me. I just really prefer more punky things, like RONDONRATS.
-
@Magus To each their own
-
@Magus I found a new one you may like (it is a big more rock)
Check out: Seven Doors by ZAQ ^_^
-
@Vaire Trinity Seven's whole soundtrack was awesome. This is still very opening-song-ish, but I do like it.
Best song in the soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWC6zysne80
-
@Magus Actually, no, the normal version is better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn60PJpLHvo
Wow, the above eats my text...@Magus Actually, no, the normal version is better:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn60PJpLHvo
-
@Magus That was pretty cool, thank you. It is a little more dancey than I usually listen to, but it is very good, I am grabbing it from Amazon Japan now ^_^
-
That show was weird. It was kind of bad in a lot of ways, but still really good, and that soundtrack...
-
@Magus I haven't watched a new Anime since the late 1990s/early 2000s. I am kindaaaaa thinking about maybe getting into A Certain Scientific Railgun/Magical Index, but I just have no time for watching stuff these days.
Back in the day, there were like, what, a dozen major shows/movies? Akira, Sailor Moon, Ranma, Tenchi, Please Save My Earth, Bubblegum Crisis, Record of Lodoss War (edited, I remembered what is was called), Gundam, and a few more I can't remember off the top of my head.
Now, there are like, what, hundreds? Thousands? It went from being a niche industry with a few stories that were obviously well-crafted works of passion, to being a turn-key industry where the titles are just cranked out almost with nothing more than palette swaps on the characters in the same stories over and over again. I cannot possibly spend the time to sort through the sheer volume that is out there now. It's too much \o_O
-
to being a turn-key industry where the titles are just cranked out almost with nothing more than palette swaps on the characters in the same stories over and over again.
We're unquestionably in that state now, yes. There keep being these fads, where suddenly the same sort of show shows up every season for a year or so. Index was pretty great, but there was a more recent similar one I liked better, and that happens to everything else too.
We ended the 'deconstructions of fantasy demon lords and heroes' fad a year or two back, and are now still in mmoland. ReZero this season is part of the 'died, reincarnated in a fantasy world' one we've just entered, and is probably going to be the peak of it, or else the comedic one last season will be.
Trinity Seven is one of the plague of 'highschool for magic people who fight monsters' shows thats been on for several years now, and is one of the rare good ones in that chain. But for new interesting things, you're pretty much reliant on whatever Bones, Trigger, or P.A. Works puts out. On the other hand, the new Dragonball is awesome, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure has been animated flawlessly so far, and most of the Gundams are good.
-
@Magus I miss the free time I had in high school and college. Good times [sigh]
-

Shiena Nishizawa
Managed to find the name so I can actually find out if I recognize things by her. But I'm actually watching Asterisk, so I knew Brand New World. She's really good. And can't have been at this long.
Surprised to not see Sousei no Aquarion on there, since that's my favorite song by AKINO.

Just set Spotify to start playing a Bunny the Party radio, and I know this is going to go well.

Nevermind, I found it. It is a 2011 song. Listening to it now.

Oh, sorry, I thought you read Japanese, so I didn't translate =_=
Hiragana and katakana? Perfectly, though my vocabulary is seriously lacking. I know like six kanji :/
-
@Magus hmm... 創聖のアクエリオン isn't really my cup-o-tea, a little too slow for me, not enough rock. I do appreciate her rise-and-hold vocals though.
-
@Vaire she has to be one of the best vocalists I've ever heard, honestly. It's also cool that she's got perfect English as well.

She grew up in the states. That's cheating. No points for perfect English in that case.
And we're gonna have to agree to disagree on best vocals. She is good, but LiSA is the best.
THE BEST I TELL YOU! >_</*

Even so, being able to sing flawlessly in two languages with no noticeable accent is pretty impressive.
JYONGRI did it for the ending song for The World Ends With You, but I know for a fact that Lullaby For You wouldn't be your style in either language.
-
@Magus Speaking of my style. I have provided a veritable cornucopia of quality tunes for you. It's your turn :P
