What Programming language to learn Next?

Assembly is ugly because machine code is ugly.
Javascript is ugly because it was thrown together in two weeks with no planning.

Sure, you can learn one of the frameworks on top of JavaScript, but @cartman82 is here to tell you if you do not learn JavaScript first you are

I'm going to second (third, forth, I can't be asked to keep stack) Scala and Celyon if you're fine with JVM-based languages, especially since you have some Haskell.
If you want to stay on the JVM, Nemerle or Boo is probably what you want (Boo especially if you like Python, but want something with more power).
If you want something more low-level, try Rust (as others have suggested) or Nim
Otherwise, dig into some of the wildness available for what you already know. Did you know that macros in Python are possible?
Aside: If you want a mind-bending experience try Color Forth - but that's not at all production-ready.

I honestly can't be arsed to install the js plugins for eclipse so I spend most of my time editing js in notepad++. Granted there's less that 200 lines of code but I refuse to become a js developer.Or, and this is a crazy idea I know, use a fucking IDE.
Yeah, who the fuck has an IDE available and chooses not to use it?
Incidently does anyone know of a good js ide. I will actually pay money for a good one.
What's wrong with F#?
If you want obscure try D. like c++ but with gc... or I might be thinking of C#Has anyone suggested prolog yet? Not really a language but the strangeness of it should be interesting for a couple weeks.

Right Blakeyrats is the dumb idiot who knows nothing
I'll take your word for it
Remember that everything @blakeyrat says is true, so maybe calling himself "blakeyrats" wasn't a typo.

Has anyone suggested prolog yet?
Great. How about suggesting languages that are actually useful?

Using TypeScript or Clojurescript will provide you an IDE. Otherwise, you're dealing with a language that doesn't have much analysis you can run on it.

I remember a client been billed about £2000 a day for someone to debug their prolog backend. I'ld like to be that useless. Given this context point taken. Thanks for the recommendations.

I'ld
Which part of England are you from?
I only know one other person who uses "I'ld" or "You'ld" not "I'd" or "You'd".

I used to get paid $2400 a day for SQL training. We billed the client $6000... and that was the bulk rate for five or more days. Those were the good old days. Today you can't get much more than $1000 a day.
The best part about training was that you didn't have to fix or produce anything tangible... no product support, ever.

I genrally don't bother with new threads with n-hundred unread posts any more (thanks read tracking), unless I am explicitly @summoned.
Also I was busy building a P/Invoke bridge using SWIG so I can C++11 while I Nemerle. It's going to be awesome.

Microsoft also does that on purpose to throw their competitors off. I'm 99% convinced a lot of time it's a tactic.
yet you love those motherfuckers

What's not to love?

I love visual studio, but I dont accept any type of vendor lock in.

Aren't you the rebel.

I love visual studio, but I dont accept any type of vendor lock in.
Many people say this, but usually they mean 'I only accept kernels written by Torvalds'
-
-
I have no problem with the BSDs. Didnt test any of them yet
-
I hear microkernels are all the rage these days.
-
I get it that apple is even worse, I dont like that either.
-
The question is, is this vendor lock-in, or just brand loyalty? If the second, why is it a problem? Microsoft is trying to get .NET running everywhere now, but you must not ever touch it, because that would be the almighty evil, VENDOR LOCKIN.
-
I use it while it's good, when it is no longer good I will no longer use it.
VENDOR LOCKIN!!!!
-
you and @magus didnt understand me correctly
visual studio is my favorite good ms productthere is a lot not to like in their other products and some of their tatics
they released web products that only work well in ie, like epm, fuck that shit
