Well known fact. I quite liked the one where everyone was crazy and manifested their craziness around them with psychic powers. None of the characters ever knew what was going on. chaos;head

I ... wat?
It's a cartoon about teams of middle-school girls having tank battles, you have a problem with the giant aircraft carrier, or the suburb built on the deck?
-
All of the above.

-
"Awesome" is not the word I would use, but you're entitled to your opinion.
-
what word would you use instead?
-
I don't know, but it would probably come across as racist. There is some huge cultural difference that makes their comics and movies really, really weird to some (most?) westerners. Some people really like that, but it just leaves me .
-
ah. the cultural aspect.
yes there is that. and it does help to gain some knowledge of their culture and general trope usage to appreciate the art better.
but if you don't want to do that, that's fine too.... there's plenty of people there that have the exact same reaction regarding our TV and movies. ;-)

All I want is some good insanity. Japan seems to be the best at that. 'Hey, you know how there's, like, judo and aikido and such? Why don't we make senshado a thing?' 'Wait what, a martial art that uses tanks!?' 'Sure, and schools have teams that compete, and when they get hit, a little flag pops up!'
-
Always a good thing to watch for good insanity:
Urusei Yatsura.
-
The name is familiar, though I haven't seen it. From the name, it is presumably about obnoxious people. I could check that out. I miss Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai.

It was Girls und Panzer

Eh, yes, the second (embedded) video sort of fit that description. The first one ... well, let's just say it got 50% of that right. The other 50% ... I'm not so sure about.
-
I am mildly impressed they included KV-1s and KV-2s with the Russian tanks. Very under-appreciated models, after being eclipsed by the brilliant T-34. (Well, the KV-1. The KV-2 is ugly as sin.)
-
The other teams used old tanks too.
-
Well I assume 1940s tanks would be playing against like, otherwise its grossly unfair.
BTW remember that Japan is a pacifist nation! Even if they drive tanks in kids' cartoons.
-
Also, building light aircraft carriers but calling them "helicopter destroyers". Seems peaceful to me :)
-
They seem to go to great effort to explain the different models of tanks used by the different nationships.
