I held a few senior positions and I've never worked more than 8 hours except a few times over this years. That's one of the good things of IT: ease of employment, so don't get too comfy.

I chose to spend most of the last 15 years doing audio/video programming in the games industry. It was made clear to me both implicitly and explicitly that there's no career path for people who do that, but I enjoyed the work. Of course, now the economy's in the toilet, nobody'll take a second look at my resume ("but I can do other things, too!"), but I had fun while it lasted...

My favorite discoquotation strategy is when it converts all <s and >s to < and >, because that's a useful and valuable thing to have it do to a quote. A civilized thing, if you will...
