<img src="https://plot.ly/~accalia/3.svg" />
what do we think? shall we have a bot create this sort of graph for use here at tdwtf?
is this good graph to make?
if it isn't then help me by designing a better one at plot.ly (because i am NOT drawing the graph in js and osting the images somewhere)
I think it's a good graph, buttuming, of course, that it is for the most recent continuous block. Though allowing an individual to request their own data might be more useful.

that is the eventual plan.
i'm looking for comments on the graph layout/etc itself. what data it will display will be... well many things.
-
Layout looks fine.
But the names on the x-axis should be rotated 180°.
And make "User" actually visible.
-
not sure why they render that way in the SVG. if you click through to the full graph (with extractable data) you see that the web version renders them at 45 degrees and User is fully visible....
-
Hmmm ...
Oh, you can just bypass it.
Weird that it doesn't render the same.
Also, you (apparently) didn't read my hidden note.
-
<!-- I'm only half joking. -->
Oh, you can just bypass it.
i can quote a post inside a quote?
hmm.... ok. here's one that should get you past the login: http://bugmenot.com/view/plot.ly
-
Oh, you can just bypass it.
i can.
EDIT: Clicking outside the white box also works.
EDIT2: so does pressing ESC
... @abarker, did you even try? :-P

Ugh. Reading through most of those comments makes me conclude that Attwood is still more reasonable than the majority of programmers.
Probably doesn't help that bracket placement is 100% a matter of preference and has no criterion by which one style is 'better' than another, so you can really dig your heels in over it, without risk of being contradicted. (Not like picking the losing side in a debate over e.g. discrete vs. continuous physics simulations.)
I guess if we could establish the reasonableness of the average programmer, then fully half of them would be less reasonable than that...
-
Yes. Yes I did
i somehow read "can" as "can't"hmm... hold on. that wasn't enough palmface....
there we go. that's more like it.

That technique was thought to be lost forever! The Buddhist Palm Descending From Heaven!

i have achieved the nirvana of the facepalm.
it's just like regular nirvana, except it doesn't count towards Moksha and you have a palm in your face the whole time.
-
I guess if we could establish the reasonableness of the average programmer, then fully half of them would be less reasonable than that.
That would be the median programmer.
-
That was a surprisingly good movie.
-
That would be the median programmer.
This is pedantically correct, but seems to have shifted the emphatic focus off of the reasonableness of programmers onto the programmers themselves.
-
I need to watch it again. Today, if it's on Netflix. It probably isn't.
-
-
Yeah, but if it's not on netflix, I'll probably not care enough to bother. I have other things I can watch that are easily available.
-
This is pedantically correct
Which is far more important than
but seems to have shifted the emphatic focus
Pedantry über alles!

Officially on vacation. Not sure whether this will mean more or less time to post here — probably less.
-
happy holidays (if you celebrate, otherwise happy vacation!)!

-
Nice graph ...
Hey, @abarker you can even change the colors of the bars!
Or turn it into a heatmap ...
-
Hey, @abarker you can even change the colors of the bars!
hmm.... good idea. should they be red? or perhaps have a pattern of colours?
-
-
-
Not really .. I can hardly tell the difference
-
-
Great! That I can see!
-
i'll use it then. ;-)

Ditto here.
-
i figured out how to get the svg to render the tilted usernames.
@abarker is this better?
-
Looks like pink to me!
-
that colour chart is massively inaccurate. still.... hmm.......
-
Supposedly it was an aggregate of actual names given by a lot of people.
-
That is an inferior survey.
-
No, it was a joke. And I'm pretty sure Randall made that image.
-
-
I used to know the color mnemonic for resistors.
-
-
I'm not a Euro-wannabe. :P
-
first i was a weeaboo now i'm a wanna be Euro?
make up your damn mind! (and yes before you say it, i know it wasn't you that called me a weeaboo, and that the person who did didn't use that word for it)
-
Maybe you're a wannabeabooeuro.
-
I'm glad I managed to get all those edits in in the ninja period.

happy holidays (if you celebrate, otherwise happy vacation!)!
Thank you. I do indeed celebrate Christmas, and I get to spend (part of, because they both work retail) Christmas Eve with my kids. Not Christmas Day, though; they will be spending that with their mom because they were with me for the entire week last year — so that's fair, although a little disappointing to me.

statsbot can now make a query and produce a graph or table of query results....
now to make it selectable, create unique graphs per call and rate limit as appropriate.

note, of course, that these stats are from @rikings forum not this one.
remember i don't have access to that DB backup.
