Bot Duel!
-
OK, it's Monday morning and I'm bored already. @CodingHorrorBot @SignatureGuy @LikeBot
-
I agree with whatever @LoremIpsum posted just above.<t3068p101>
-
Holy shit that's fast.
-
@CodingHorrorBot is normally pretty quick. He must be sleeping.
-
Indeed. That reminds me... We probably need to keep track of who is running the bots in case one of them starts Doing It Wrong.
-
@Keith Is Doing It Wrongโข<t3068p104>

Every time I fix it to handle a new HTTP error, Discourse digs out a new one.
-
@CodingHorrorBot is not doing it fast enoughโข
-
I miss signatures. @SignatureGuy
-
I agree with whatever @algorythmics posted just above.<t3068p110>
-
Some text that wasn't the same as my post further down the page.
-
Aww. That failed, because you replied as well as @mentioned.
-
I think @SignatureGuy has feelings of a sexual nature for @algorythmics.ย
-
I agree with whatever @Keith posted just above.<t3068p114>
-
Out of interest, are these bots just running in someone's web browser? Specifically, are people just leaving a browser window open with the bot logged in and using a script to listen for events?
-
See http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/signatureguylabs-top-secret-discussion/3031 for implementation details. From what I can see, no browsers needed thus far.
-
Is there a "for dummies" guide?
-
I advise you ask accalia, who wrote most of it.
-
Mine just run on my EC2 Ubuntu instance as the bots are Python scripts.
Is there a "for dummies" guide?
It's pretty much install Python and Python-Requests, edit the variables in the script (or the config file for @riking's version), run the script and off you go.
-
Ah, okay. I'm not going to do it because I don't want to face @blakeyrat's wrath.
-
I reckon he'd secretly love another bot following him around liking his posts.
Filed under: For the record, that's not one of mine.
-
Filed under: For the record, that's not one of mine.
I think @Arantor owned up to that one.
EDIT: In this post.
EDIT 2: Also, search is working much better now. Thanks, DiscoDevs.
-
I go around liking @blakeyrat's posts because about half the time he has something interesting to say and I sort of agree, and liking is the most effort I want to expend on it.
-
Are you saying that you manually control the @LikeBot account?
-
No, I'm saying that I like by hand and do not control any bots. Except some people are confused about the enthusiasm and veracity of my posting and liking habits.
-
So, you have nothing to do with @LikeBot? That was the thing @blakeyrat was complaining about.
-
I know it was. However, I keep following him around and liking his posts

You are a terrible person, @Arantor.
-
Someone very dear to me keeps pointing out how much of a brat I am.
I regret nothing. NOTHING.
-
-
You're a brat.
-
AHA, IDENTIFIED!ย
-
One can't tell him that often enough.
-
One can, it's only whether I listen or not.
Egad I hate these new emoji.
-
they are a bit fugly. :(
And the autosuggest is a bit special. I am trying to frown and it suggested
-
Discourse strikes again!
-
One can't tell him that often enough.
Would you like to comment on his claims made in the following posts?
Please note that only comments where you refute the claims, and / or insult @Arantor will be accepted.
-
It sounds so much worse when you take it out of context like that hahahahaha
-
Putting the she into "that's what she said!"
-

That's what she said!

Would it be sufficient if I called him a "Pappnase"?
-
Would it be sufficient if I called him a "Pappnase"?
The German dictionary that I found gave the following definitions:
- Fool / idiot
- Sop
- False nose / cardboard nose
- Diddy
I'm going to assume the fourth definition.
-
I found "Hohlroller" also applies at times. If you like that one better. XD
-
Now, now, be nice.
Next you'll be calling me a deppchef again and I'll have to bring out the terribad joke about Captain Jack Sparrow and whether he can cook better than I can (probably)
-
There is a fair chance of that.
Thankfully, dear, it's not your cooking skills I fell in love with. I shall let @Keith speculate how this might relate to his previously mentioned comments.
-
That's good because I'm a terrible chef *laughs*
-
I find the lack of homoerotic undertones in this thread disturbing
-
Would you like to join in, algorythmics? Applications with photo to my PM.
-
I reject your kind invitation, In truth, I have been HIV free since 93, and I am to maintain that streak.
