Those two electric motors really give me a boost in the low end torque. I'd lose over the 1/4 mile, but then it's city you don't have that long before the next red ligh!
When I was in Tampa, my boss bought one of the early R/T Chargers. He used to play a game called "how fast can I go in traffic" where he'd let a short gap open in front of him and stomp on the gas. You can get to 70+MPH pretty fast if your drive train's powerful enough.
-
By the time they realize electrics and hybrids exists, you guys will be probably flying around in hovercrafts.
That'd be awesome if they measured a Telsa by dropping the electric motor in a tub and figuring out the displacement of the coils.
-
tampa has way more muscle cars than maine, and much flatter roads.
i'l not dispute that my prius wouldn't stand a chance in a race, but it's fun to see the muscle cars we do get up here try to beat it around town and fail.
-
i have a 1.8L engine in my car and i outperform most of the muscle cars around, in city at least.
Those two electric motors really give me a boost in the low end torque.
Yeah ditto that. When my car's going all-out, 2000cc gas engine and dual electrics, the thing's impressively performant for such a huge, heavy car (I can fit a Prius in my trunk). Hardly ever comes up with traffic around here, though.
-
It was fun driving through SF last summer in a big-ass Jeep, playing counting the Priuses.
-
there are a lot of my brethren there. it's spreading to the rest of the country too!

But I guarantee the journey of last summer could not possibly have been taken in a Prius. 7250 miles in 18 days, including up mountainsides.

Oh, I know. I used to have fun doing that in my Escort, against people with much more powerful cars who didn't know how to drive stick. Lurch forward, coast while shifting, lurch forward, coast while shifting. Meanwhile I just pulled in front of him.
My wife's actually from southern Maine, and I've lived in the Berkshires of MA, plus upstate South Carolina, so I know from hilly territory.

the car could have made it happily, the passengers, not so much if they were larger than average for Japan, or had a lot of luggage.
:P

Consider this: 2 guys, a dog, set of camping equipment (tent, airbags, portable stove and stuff), dog bed, dog food, plus sufficient clothes etc.
And driving up mountains just because they were there.
-
the prius would have been a bad idea.
-
I sincerely dread to think what would have happened in Moab, UT with a Prius...

Status: doing final render of Woodcutter Sim 2013. Took a shockingly long time to edit, despite being crappy.
Also cursing all the people who advised me not to buy a new CPU, when the new Intel CPUs have that fucking MP4 Encoding super-boost mode whatsiscalled and would do this video in like half the time.
I remember being so excited back when I ripped my DVDs that I had a computer that could rip a DVD in "real time" (i.e. a 2 hour movie takes 2 hours or less to render.) Then I started doing 1080p. To be fair, this computer does not too shabby at it, but it still takes like 35 minutes to render a 20 minute video.

Pfft. Royalists. So glad we threw all your fucking tea into the harbor.
You want a print to hang up, use this one:
There ya go, Uncle Sam can kick your ass every time you enter your livingroom!!!

That's average for me. Then I do 12—16h on weekends, and I wonder why the “Honey Do” jar never seems to decrease in slip volume :( .

I had all my wisdom teeth out at once, at a regular dentist,
Same here for me but just w/ novacaine… The dentist had to crack all four of them with pliers to get them out, sounded like gun-shots. I'm one of those high pain tolerance persons and am also rather insensitive to anesthesia. I woke up three times during a surgery to rebuild a shattered wrist ( LH ) and shattered elbow ( RA ). They were not amused by my “Hey, how's it going? Can I watch?”.

b-trees are MUCH more fun than binary trees. And then you get into b+-trees, tries, and all sorts of weird crap.
We need to get AVL and B* trees on the syllabus too ( along w/ heaps )!

I learned that if you're a pop group manager in Romania,
-
You let the expensive talent stand on the wingtip of a sizeable cargo plane with its engines running
-
The poor cameraman has to slide a cart underneath said wingtip only feet from the edges of that 12' propeller. Yikes! I hope he brought a couple changes of underwear.
-
Your editor is still too lazy to ensure the plane is the same aircraft in each shot. It mysteriously turns into a 727(?) on takeoff? But the CGI plane matches the filming plane pretty close, I'll give them that. Then the crashed plane at the end has the 727's rear engine.

The official music video of Caramelldansen is nauseating. I'm not exaggerating. Put that shit on fullscreen and you'll be vomiting up your frosted flakes in less than 45 seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A67ZkAd1wmI
... also the weird anime alien girl-thing in the red shirt has no spine, apparently. These aliens are not very good at blending-in with human society.
EDIT: the video ended but my vision is still bobbing up and down aaaa AAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA
EDIT EDIT: that video is still 20,000 times less disturbing than this:

Notice how the crowd is deathly-silent. They know those monsters on stage will soon consume their souls.

Old things with unique videos?
Makes me think of this:

hot so bad really. and now i know where that dance comes from...

this is why people who have limited grasp of human anatomy should never be let near a 3D animation anything. that was the most disturbing part of the video really. if she was a real person she would have snapped her own spine in half!
-
I never watched the original thing ever before.
That shaking is awful.

The worst part of that last video is that Michael Bay directed it. Fortunately, someone took away his lens flare machine. Unfortunately he found something else.

Status: bedtime. Awesomeness in T-12 hours and I need sleep and to run some errands before getting ready for a day I am so ready for... equal parts terrified and excited, full of nerves and butterflies and so much feeling. Haven't felt like this in a long time... in fact I don't think I ever felt quite like this before.

May your enemies never see you coming, and your loved ones never see you leave. May your roadblocks be removed ahead of you and may you be carried forward by the winds of fortune. Above all, may you love and that love be returned; until this world is no more, and even beyond that into the unknown.
It's not the best translation, but it was either that or try to transcribe the original runes of the blessing into something discourse felt like posting.
Posted on attempt 8 but discoformatting struck. Attempt #9 to correctly post this.

Have deleted the new mail in my mailbox, opened up some applications and had a coffee ... that does count for something doesn't it?
I'll go grab a fresh cup and make it look more like I'm doing something productive.

Status: Finally got our code checker tool to work on a newly-installed dev server.
As it turns out, GCC provides a
stdint.h
file which does a#include_next <stdint.h>
. Since the code checker do not knows what#include_next
does, it ignores it. It then chokes on auint16_t
, starts throwing thousands of errors as a result, and eventually segfaults.I ended up using the same workaround which was used on the old server: remove the offending
stdint.h
file so it finds the real one.
