Status: Fighting a Heisenbug. a beauty that dissapears when i try to debug it.
Fun. I had one of those last week. Luckily I already knew a race condition was causing double free - ended up improving our builtin detection for that specifically as both the builtin memory debugger and valgrind broke the reproduction.

Status: Fixed a unneeded long lookup chain in a data structure that really needs to be gutted and rebuilt. I wish we'd run into it on the load testing env rather than at a customer site - I get to spend more time cleaning up with load testing bugs.

Why are there 74 new posts here in like an hour?
Oh. Accalia and RaceProUK jerking each other off again. Shocker.

No comment on the matching avatars we now sport?

It's harder to tell at a glance which of the two of you are posting. Which I guess is better for blakey, he can ignore both of your posts that much faster...

It's a little easier with the hats than without ;)

Not much though.

Status: tried to replace a piece of the window blinds. Entire portion of the wall just fell apart. Goddamn old buildings.

with this kind of things almost always it's a race condition.
sadly this one isn't. it was a misconfiguration

Status: Hoping that the site really goes read-only for a while so you bastards stop posting and I don't feel compelled to click on stuff anymore and actually do something else.

Doing It Wrongâ„¢.
That's the other thing I want to do! I want to Do It Wrong with Discourse!
That came out wrong...

If it ain't a race condition, maybe it's uninitialized memory....?

stop posting
Yeah, this is probably the least productive Monday morning I've had in a long while...

Ah, the old classic "crashes in the release version on the client PC, but cannot repro locally in a debug built..."

Which is always why you repro locally with the release build if the head build doesn't repro immediately. I don't tend to work with debug builds by default.

I'll be honest, I expected something more…

Status: went to take a shower. The shower hose decided it would be funny if it blew up on me.
The only choices were to splash water onto myself or attempt to wash under the tap that's installed in the shower... box thing, whatever you call it. Now, that tap is not that high up, and I'm a fairly tall guy (185ish cm, didn't think of taking exact measurements in a while, because, who cares). I didn't expect to practice my contortionist act in the bathroom.
Oh, also, the tap was one of these:
Well, not that, but you get the mechanism involved. I managed to elbow that sucker to "freezing cold" a few times by accident.
FML. The weekend neckbeard is coming off tomorrow, even if that means I have to wake up at 05:15. Right now I'm done with that damn bathroom. It brought me only pain.

This is why us rednecks have giant cups in the shower.

Next time you're at your local 7/11 UK equivalent. See if you still have the liberty to buy a 32+ oz fountain drink.
If not, take one of your sporting water bottle delux from yer health craze thing and biking stuff you do, and saw off the lid.
Now, I know you can't have weapons in the UK, so a saw may be hard to come by. But if you can manage to pry the blade out of your shaving razor using some tweezers.... without ending up arrested.....
You can take one of those potato chip clips and hold the razor with that.
Unless they outlawed potato chips too.

Just because we can't open- or conceal-carry, doesn't make it hard to get a saw; just go to the local B&Q
-
Ok, I thought you couldn't have anything that could be construed as a weapon either.
But, um, don't know why you'd go to a BBQ place to get a saw, unless you types have to borrow stuff from the butcher.
-
I've been listening to Scooter while doing things on my PC for the last twoish hours.
Thanks, @onyx.

Not sure why they butchered the second B.
We have a place called Home Depot. Which isn't where they stage the delivery of homes.... but at least you get an idea.

Home Depot.
Is an anagram of "Pot D Homee"—I think it's quite clear what kind of 'supplies' they're selling there...

You get an F for trying too hard
