@darkmatter necroing topics is a barrier to reading legitimate new content
-
I think he deserves a badge.
-
Do you get a mention from a topic title? I'm not sure @darkmatter is aware.

Maybe you could let @darkmatter know for me?
-
Wait, we have legitimate new content?

I'll hold my response until this is resurrected in a month.

Relatively speaking.
New off-topic posts in fresh threads instead of new off-topic posts in old threads.

Without you mentioning @darkmatter I think we are going indeed off-topic.

But why would we need to do that? @darkmatter is quite capable of dragging things off-topic on his own…
-
I agree for 1 1/2 but @darkmatter is also rather dedicated to making things a mess

Isn't math funny ?
Yes.
Q: Why do they never serve beer at a math party?
A: Because you can't drink and derive...Q: Why didn't the quarter roll down the hill with the nickel?
A: Because it had more cents.Q: Did you hear about the constipated mathematician?
A: He worked it out with a pencil.Q: How many molecules in a bowl of guacamole?

A: It grew square roots.Q: Why did the chicken cross the mobius strip?
A: To get to the same side.Q: How do you make seven an even number?
A: Take the s out!Q: Why should the number 288 never be mentioned?
A: It's two gross.Q: Why couldn't the moebius strip enroll at the school?

A: He works it out with a pencil.Q: Why is a math book always unhappy?
A: Because it always has lots of problems.
Stolen from here (plenty more on that page).
-
I especially like this one
Q: What does a mathematician do about constipation?
A: He works it out with a pencil.
but I don't like it that much to include it twice.Q: Did you hear about the constipated mathematician?
A: He worked it out with a pencil.

but I don't like it that much to include it twice.
Yeah, I noticed that. I prefer the phrasing of the second one.

All the crap I did last night, and posting in a Suggested Topic to Necro is what someone complains about? At least I only did that at Dicsourse's suggestion!
-
You're welcome.
-
posting in a Suggested Topic to Necro is what someone complains about
I wasn't complaining, I was putting you forward for an honour.
-
honour.
Damn British/Canadian honors!
Every time I see those extra U's, I pronounce the word in my head like ON-YEWR rather than ONNER
-
Why are we needing new topics?
2561 threadsought to be good enough for everyone. Dickcourse can track the conversation and new plugin will give us the great threaded view as evidenced in other cgi software forums.CGI != Computer Generated Images.
-
Damn British/Canadian honors!Every time I see those extra U's, I pronounce the word in my head like ON-YEWR rather than ONNER
I blame America for making our English lazy and invading our television nightmares and England for not making enough television series like yes Prime Minister and are you being serviced?
-
Oh wait, no, it's just ambiguously stated like everything Nagesh says.
-
Q: How many molecules in a bowl of guacamole?
A: Avacado's NumberThat's more of a chem joke than a math joke.
-
I think @darkmatter is innocent, discourse recommends necroing topics which means it's intended behavior @codinghorror treats as best practice which means @Keith, you're doing it wrong.

And still doing it wrongtm

Speaking of which, can't I get an HTML and/or css award for the bigsup/sub exploit? I'm jealous!
-
It's not an exploit, really. It's also terribly wasteful when you could do the same thing by just embedding your comment inside of < >
<Like this>
-
It was essentially the same as the spin thing, just with different HTML elements that had their own CSS already added by Dicsourse.
-
Speaking of which, can't I get an HTML and/or css award for the bigsup/sub exploit?
URL to first post demonstrating it please.
Unless someone can provide an earlier URL demonstrating the same exploit, it's all yours.
Feel free to post here, but PM me with it too - they're easier for me for tracking.
-
Oh hell I doubt I remember which was the first.
How about the URL to the guy crediting me with it
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-official-hack-testing-thread/1081/161?u=darkmatterand their screenshot of it (I don't know if this was the first one I did, but it was the first one someone noticed I guess).
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/poll-should-sam-create-the-suggested-badges/1337/62?u=darkmatterMy actual post, which now just looks silly after the css was fixed

Ooh, I especially love the giant spoiler smily... interesting one-box effect.

http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/poll-should-sam-create-the-suggested-badges/1337/61?u=darkmatterOf course, the preview shows it correctly until you start adding text.

http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/poll-should-sam-create-the-suggested-badges/1337/61?u=darkmatterJust changing the quote a bit to see what will happen, if anything.
-
Interesting... it was a giant smily when ember added the post to the page, but now that I've reloaded the page the smily is small
-
My quoted blurred smilies just vanished entirely.
[edit] Unless i highlight it / click it.
-
If I enter the topic at the bottom, from the Latest page, the smiley is big. If I then refresh, it gets small, but next time I enter the topic, it's big again.
Right-click, inspect element shows it is 64 x 64 on initial load, but 20 x 20 on reload. Huh.

Reproduced here...
How does that even happen?

How does that even happen?
This is how:
http://what.thedailywtf.com/uploads/stylesheet-cache/desktop_eeb2717293736ff5c004350f1e5daf25755cef11.cssThat stylesheet has a body img.emoji height & width set in it. The image itself has no height or width set, and is naturally 64x64. Either some variation of loading the quote is scrubbing the emoji class off the image, or that css isn't affecting things consistently depending on the page load method.
-
Indeed. From infiniscroll load:
<svg data-spoiler-id="1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" width="64" height="64"><defs><filter id="blur-1"><feGaussianBlur id="gaussian-1" stdDeviation="6"></feGaussianBlur></filter></defs><image xlink:href="http://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/emoji/images/frowning.png" filter="url(#blur-1)" width="64" height="64"></image></svg>
From initial load:
<svg data-spoiler-id="1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" width="20" height="20"><defs><filter id="blur-1"><feGaussianBlur id="gaussian-1" stdDeviation="6"></feGaussianBlur></filter></defs><image xlink:href="http://what.thedailywtf.com/plugins/emoji/images/frowning.png" filter="url(#blur-1)" width="20" height="20"></image></svg>
When ember adds to the page dynamically on scroll it does not build the same way as when it is loaded up initially. That could certainly lead to some interesting exploits
-
Oh wait, no, it's just ambiguously stated like everything Nagesh says.
Still better stated than your status line.
menti tag what who mikethe the codi adm you y codingwhorror lickmyballs sex ilikevagina
-
And your status line is just a bunch of boxes...
My status line is @mention cloud gaming. Try @sex enter and see what it gets you. Course it only works on complete-word matches or if I'm the only user or first alphabetically at that point in the word, and only in cases where there is no user actually named that.
Fixed now so @mentionenter and @adminenter are me too
-
And your status line is just a bunch of boxes...
Ha ha ha! Get proper operating system or browser or both. Then you will see magnificent emoji animals.

If you want to necro a topic, at least be on topic (original or emergent).
