Thanks Gmail. I thought I was losing my mind.

If you quote content that you are replying to, Gmail colors the text purple.
Except on my monitor the colors look so close, I thought my mind was playing tricks on me.
And on my left monitor, they both look black.

My left monitor is rotated, and it's one of those monitors that scan horizontal, so the color changes at up/down angles on my left monitor.

i'm sorry..... i've been staring at this for the past five minutes trying to make sense of it..... and failing.....
what exactly happens in your monitor setup?
-
I don't know the words for it.
But if I tilt my monitor (landscape) up or down the color doesn't change, but left or right the color does change.
But my left monitor is portrait. If I tilt it up or down the color changes.

AAAAH!
Now i understand!
You have an old style TN LCD i think. Most of those have very narrow up/down viewing angles (a side effect of how the LCD cells are arranged) but a comparatively wide (but still fairly narrow) left/right viewing angles.
when you tilt the monitor to portrait orientation you swap the up/down and left/right viewing angles.
now i get it!
If that issue annoys you, you might try upgrading to an IPS LCD screen (they're quite reasonably priced now). That should eliminate that issue for the most part.... (I found it worth it.)

Email my boss!
They act like they barely afford me, the way they are so stingy on work equipment.

ah.....
in that case my condolences.

I'm a programmer that codes interfaces for pipeline operators.
I only need 8bit color.

awesome.
That goes on phone.

Subpixel issues, probably. I think you can adjust ClearType to deal with that.

There is an epic joke / innuendo in there, somewhere....
-
An interface for a pipeline operator is a tool for a gynecologist?
-
do any of these tools include those for checking the bore, or reaming out etc? Or would it just be a case of monitoring / improving the flow?
