the police don't care much about online stalking, which is consistent since they don't care about IRL stalking either.
The police include women....
Secondly, protect yourself.... 30 mins for the police arrive means that Hannibal is always 20 miles away after he scarfed your brain.

But since it doesn't say 'all gamers are evil and harass women'
The goggles do nothing but make you look stupid.
@kt_ said in Cowardly Nintendo Execs Fire Employee After GamerGate Are Assholes:
if such activism is able to disrupt the status quo
It won't, because the status quo is harassment.
The fact that a few feminists got targeted for a little bit doesn't mean that all gamers have been chill all this time and suddenly hate women. Have you watched recordings of CoD... seriously... go watch them. It's fucked up.
Of course, it becomes "sexism" magically when someone they suppose is a girl walks in.

@Magus said in Cowardly Nintendo Execs Fire Employee After GamerGate Are Assholes:
Which is why, as far as some people are concerned, you are now gamergate. If you want to escape boxes, you get one.
Because, for some people who I won't @mention, if you want to argue merits of anything other than a woman complaining about death threats, you are denying that there is any problem with sending women death threats, because that issue is the most important one and therefore we can't think about any other issues.
Whereas from my perspective, until every man on the internet agrees to not be an ass to a woman, that issue will never go away, and it already has great coverage, so I feel perfectly free to talk about other issues.
-
So, why are we talking about two sets of assholes (one set containing one woman), and trying to judge which is the bigger asshole?
As an external observer, this is just to me.
She didn't get fired because of GG. She got fired, just as any other person does, when they crudely misrepresent the company.
If the article had been honest and said, "Woman fired for crude online display, and GG are assholes for trying to get her fired for the wrong reason" no one would read the damn thing.
I almost feel like we need a "Honest Trailer" like video for this article.

The Last Psychiatrist: Who Bullies The Bullies?
That article has so much win:
So for him to think Maxim isn't for nerds means he thinks it's for Dude-Bros, i.e. large genitaled males who get to rape all the drunk chicks at the Delta house. Which means he's an easy mark for branding, and which, I am willing to bet $10M, is why he tells his guy friends about Maxim but shows his girlfriend he subscribes to The Economist. Don't worry, Amanda, he only reads the book reviews, too. Stab in the dark, here's a guess at his character sketch: a smart underachiever, proud he's "not some frat jerk", he knows he's supposed to be interested in topics not related to him but finds his concentration isn't up to the task-- so he reassures himself with the trappings/magazines of intelligence.
Third of all: observe that she asked him about The Economist after they had broken up. Her ex was her go-to guy when she had a question about masculinity, and magazines. Does she know any other men? Has she interacted with any men without the polarized glasses of stereotype, prejudice and fear? Is every guy only either a love interest or a Dude-Bro?

@antiquarian yup, this guy is very interesting and his writing is sometimes extremely to the point, I greatly appreciate his articles. You might also like:

Well, there's one final surprising twist in this tale.
Turns out, on top of "promoting pedophilia" and moonlighting as a sex model, Rapp also had an outright prostitution business. But please tell us how this is all because of Gamergate.

That was epic

Hmm. Prominent tattoos/piercings. Somehow, this does not surprise me.

Remember, @blakeyrat coming in here and admitting he was wrong about the details in his original post will happen approximately never, and that is his way of admitting he was wrong.
-
@FrostCat I wasn't wrong.
My opinion was that the horde of people calling for her firing were wrong. You even agreed with that at one point.
All the information above has nothing to do with that. It doesn't matter that she has tattoos. (And BTW: seriously? Are you posing from 1946 Iowa?) It doesn't matter that she did risque photos with Nintendo characters. That's irrelevant.
What I was objecting to was the concerted effort by hundreds of strangers to have her fired on dubious grounds. That was wrong. That is still wrong. You morons filling this thread with irrelevancies doesn't make it less wrong.

Tattoos? No, that was just the evidence used to link her to being a hooker, which was apparently the real reason she got fired, not your whipping boy GG. Good job of (presumably) deliberately misunderstanding me as usual, though. 8/10.
@blakeyrat said in Cowardly Nintendo Execs Fire Employee After GamerGate Are Assholes:
irrelevancies
I think finding out what is likely the real reason she was fired, and that it probably wasn't because of the object of your bigoted hatred is hardly irrelevant.
Your argument is like the one that the people in The Matrix were the machines' primary fuel source because it was listed first.
I wasn't wrong.
Well [GG] just got Alison Rapp fired.
I know you're physically incapable of explicitly admitting to being wrong. It's ok. Just do your implicit thing where you stop replying. We'll understand and not think any less of you over it than the last time you did it.

Also, I still agree that was wrong, you dishonest bridge troll. I bet your shitty attitude is why you can't sleep at night.
-
@FrostCat Much more delightful is how the only reason all this dirt surfaced was because white knight morons like Hanselman, Riking and Blakeyrat went running all over Twitter, drumming up awareness about Rapp's "unjust" firing. They were hoping so hard to find even one measly counterexample of their usual bullying tactics, they forgot maybe they should look at the facts first before they cry gamergate. As a result, this girl's career in PR is pretty much ruined for good.
Good job SJW-tards.
-
@cartman82 These people seem to be pretty bad at picking their poster boys (and girls).

Well, she's still got porn and hooking, I guess.

@Groaner They're more interested in preaching their message than basic fact-checking

It's a fox with a starry tail if I'm not mistaken. Which would make that a picture for a different thread…

So, it's not the firing that was wrong. It wasn't the reasons Nintendo fired her.
It was some irrelevant group that had no bearing on the outcome of her job, bringing up frivolous reasons, that you're complaining about?
However, if someone complains about standards in videogame professionalism, you'll feel free to tie them to this unrelated group so you can dismiss their concerns.
It's only valid when you tie up unrelated things.
It's only when I complain that some group got a game taken off the shelf, that it's unrelated.
How about,
- It's always bad to censor
- It's always bad to get someone fired
Can we just agree on those two things?

It's fine, he's a gamer. ergo he's a 12yo cod player, ergo he is dead. Disagreement with any of these points means he agrees with gamergate on something, and is therefore a misogynist and deserves to be fired from any job he ever gets.

What... like new information that proved your assertions wrong. I wonder if you've accused anyone of that recently...
