have you ever used TRACE for anything sensible? i've yet to understand the point of that one.
the others i get and have used but TRACE?

Have you ever actually used PATCH? The concept is fine, but without a way to specify what to change it's unusable…

When I was twiddling with rails, this was what they were recommending for updates instead of PUT. Except, it turns out browsers don't really support PATCH so you're actually supposed to send POST and rails will like pretend it's a PATCH? Or something?
Thanks but no thanks.

Don't forget DELETE.

DELETE. great for having the web page act like a file server.
Deletion often makes a bunch of sense in terms of a REST service, even if it's not something you use all the time. (The service can also unilaterally decide to delete a resource if it wants to; nothing in the principles of REST prevents that, so long as the service responds appropriately afterwards, e.g., with a 404 or 410.)
