The IT Crowd

This describes my Seinfeld experience, and yet millions loved the show.
Seinfeld is only funny on your 5th or 6th episode. All the humor is rooted in knowing the character, so until you know the characters, it's just random people doing random things.

I liked some of the characters. Others I could not stand. Especially George.

Bizarrely, I didn't walk out of Freddie Got Fingered. Here's a hint: if the guy selling tickets asks you "why would you want to go see that?" see something else. In all the many, many movies I've seen in theaters, that's the only time that ever happened to me.
My friends and I walked out of A Knight's Tale. I think around the time Chaucer shows up naked. That movie was fucking godawful.
Later I found out some people actually like it. I think those people need to be locked up.
-
I have watched Archer and it made me snigger at times but very little 'laugh out loud'.

You're not supposed to like them, all of them are fucking awful. That's why they end up in prison at the end of the series. Elaine and Jerry come off best, but by normal human standards they're still horrible people. Kramer was pretty much a terrorist in half the episodes. George ... well when you think about it, George and Kramer did things outright illegal in fucking half the episodes. I would hope nobody likes George.
But you do have to understand the way they think for the humor in the show to work.

I meant, "liked watching them," i.e., liked them as characters. As opposed cannot stand to watch them.

Cantstandya...

I bet that movie wasn't as bad as FGF. The rumor is that Tom Green got sick of being begged to be a movie and wrote one so horrible that nobody would ever ask him to be in another one.
Borat was close, though. I mean, parts of it were funny, but parts of it seemed like they were some kind of elaborate performance art designed to alienate the audience.

I'm convinced George's purpose in life is "object lesson to others." Having said that, it would probably interesting to be around him IRL, at least up to a point.
-

What? I love George! At least, it seems like the best gags revolved around him.
Or are you saying there's a difference between liking someone and enjoying laughing at them? What does that even mean? I can't fathom the distinction.

WTF is a FGF?

I assume Freddy Got Fingered.
-
Yes. I abbreviated it since I'd mentioned it a few posts earlier.
-
My wife and I both crack up at it. I honestly couldn't name a movie he was in. That show was really the first time he entered my consciousness.
Same here.
The stuff he does with The Lonely Island is pretty funny too.EDIT - was clearly beaten to mentioning the Lonely Island as I didn't actually read to the bottom.

I spread Discourse across two 1080p monitors briefly to see what it looked like.
That didn't last long - so much pointless, inexcusable, white space.
-
I'd post my Stylish CSS, but I'm sure most people would hate it (one person has already said so.)
Serves me across 4 PC's with vastly different resolutions but it works. For Me™.
-
If it reduces the whitespace then go for it.
I figured it out for the new front page design but couldn't work it out for Dicsourse.

There is an opportunity to rewrite the whole site CSS.
The raw site, with no CSS may be viewed via http://what.thedailywtf.com/?preview-style=6e274271-7192-4265-9ceb-2fd873486c2e
At least for however long that UUID lasts...
If you want to write a (complete) Stylish sheet against that I may consider using it instead of what we have now. If enough people complain about it. :D

That sure is purdy.

Maybe, but my CSS experience is minimal, which is why I couldn't work out making this horror at least the width of the viewport.

I'll quote you $50k.

I don't have that button, and even if I did, wouldn't click it for that reason.

Does it involve breaking a EULA?
EULA? I don't even know her!
