so..... what happened?
@pjh? did we go down for a while or was it just me?
-
It wasn't just you. I am still getting 504's intermittently
-
Erm... that my have been
usthose hools in the Likes thread.

Fuck knows. As I said else-forum, my home laptop seems to have more internet uptime, and I'm with Virgin Media...
-
Luckily, it was mostly down during my lunch.
-
Melt down at 19k.
Don't have issues with VM at home. Work's sometimes a different matter though.
-
Site upgrade? I'm seeing the greenbox in multiple locations (once per page, just different locations per thread).
-
Luckily, it was mostly down during my lunch.
It was down at the same time I was unable to do useful work due to a stupid business process. No work and no TDWTF = frustration.
-
Whatever was wrong, it was affecting the front page, too. But not the CS forums, at least not much; they seemed maybe a little sluggish, but nothing like here.
-

-
I wonder if the bots are DoScouring us. They often respond pretty quickly.
-
Yes, that. Is it a known bug?
-
Cool. Haven't seen it do that before.
-
It's a style change I gave to PJH to try and prevent it from doing the dancing scrollbar issue.
It has issues itself, like you're seeing. I don't know of any way to make it work for everyone because of how everything is styled around that element.
-
But.....uhhh....wha.......it's........that's..........
I'm not used to transparency on this forum. :heavy_exclamation_mark:
-
I at least admit where what I tried to do has a fault, which is more than whoever did the layout and styles of the position bar, considering the dancing scrollbars problem that exists in the first place.
-
tis intentional
-
tis of course answered before me.
hell i was getting bad gateway errors from about 2pm til 9pm...
-
I must still be getting some issues. I had to manually refresh to see new posts from an hour ago.
-
Same here, and now I'm getting New/Unread without any.......New/Unread.
-
it has more or less resolved itself at this point, but only after a full reload (for me anyway)
-
"Discourse: we're going to be AJAX-ey until your view is so corrupted that you force a full reload"
-
Side note: @Arantor, you changed your avatar? But I liked Oscar!
Side Side Note: : - ( is a SAD face, not a frowny face, last I checked DissedCourse! Sheesh!
-
Just be glad? They aren't forcing the issue with refresh commands.
-
I wonder if I'm the only front page guy that spends a ton of time on Discourse after the switch.

I wonder if I'm the only front page guy that spends a ton of time on Discourse after the switch.
I read the front page more than most of the old forums. I mostly only looked at the Sidebar WTF category on the old forums, but I did read everything that was posted in the Sidebar category.
-
Kind of the same here. I mostly commented the articles and looked at the sidebar category in read only mode.
-

Actually that applies to me too. I had an account, but I only used it a few times. I've sort of become a regular at least skimming posts in my marked threads and new topic titles, though not all that common of a poster yet.I'm not exactly sure why, because while there are quite a few things I actually like about Discourse there are enough things that are really freaking annoying about it that on balance it's about 5 steps back...
-
I mostly commented the articles and looked at the sidebar category in read only mode.
I had maybe 5 front page comments and about 50 sidebar comments over 6 or 7 years before dicsource.
Not that dicsourse made the forum any better... i originally started posting in dicsourse to see what all the hubbub was about it being broken, and the brokenness is what has kept me around posting, sadly. At this point, if it weren't for the Likes Topic and the new bug to exploit for kicks every other day, I would probably already have gone back to never posting ever.
-
How many forum posts did you guys have? I proudly proclaim only 4.
-
I proudly proclaim only 3,607.
-
-
I'm not sure why I made the other 99.

I'm not sure why I made the other 99.
"I've got 99 other posts as the limit of Dwarf Fortress posts approaches one."
-
"Discourse: we're going to be AJAX-ey until your view is so corrupted that you force a full reload"
And we're going to leak memory so you'll eventually have to reload anyway because otherwise you'll never reclaim that memory!
mwa ha ha ha ha ha!
-
I wonder if I'm the only front page guy that spends a ton of time on Discourse after the switch.
@faoileag seems to spend more time here after being a front page guy.
-
Only 3,508 of which are about Dwarf Fortress.
That is totally not true. You're vastly underestimating chromebook and Go posts.
-
I had 0 old forum posts, because it kept rejecting me as a spammer every time i tried to sign up.
i mean just because my email address is about 80 characters does not mean i'm a spammer guys!
-sigh-
but i'm here now and that's what matters.

/me can confirm that. Much more time.

Oh, yeah, I really meant more than @chubertdev. I regret not making that clear in my response. But not very much, because whatever.
-
Apropos front side... today's article is a real gem!
-
I had 0 old forum posts, because it kept rejecting me as a spammer every time i tried to sign up.
Same - I'm not sure it was as a spammer, but the validation emails just didn't arrive.
-
You're not. While I lurked periodically, it's pretty much how I ended up here.

I dunno, your posts seem pretty spammy to me.

... really?
thanks for telling me now, i could have reformed if you had told me earlier!

Sorry, but they do reek of spiced ham.
