Today is Friday, the 13th

Just for the fun of it: today is friday the 13th.
On my way to work my exhaust pipe broke, so my car now has some interesting sound characteristics.
Did anybody else experience some "bad luck" today?
(that today's article has Discourse as comment system doesn't count ;-))

Nope.
Not yet... haven't even filed a Discourse bug report yet.
-
Also not yet, but I'm about to consume some sort of African veg pot and I'm wearing a white shirt...

I think partial quotes are a barrier to discussion and shouldn't be allowed :P

I filed one that was bad enough to get the topic locked and hidden...
-
Knew it couldn't last...
Better luck here - the assumed broken exhaust pipe turned out to be just a broken fitting holding two bits of pipe together and my garage could fix it in a couple of minutes :-)

If your pipe not work, smoke a beedi.

Where's the button?
-
That's some good right there...
-
Some more buttons sure would come in handy - for this topic a "suits you right!" button comes to mind.
But definitely missing is a "dislike" button. There is one forum in Germany where they have "Strong dislike, dislike, like and strong like" and the current overall rating of a post is is displayed as a smaller or broader block of red or green.
For some folks on that forum, getting their posts full red seems to be a sign of achievement, like getting an ASBO was (or perhaps still is) for some antisocial youths in Britain.
-
Ah, yes. Saw that one.. :/
-
Power went out at home while I was in the shower. Apparently something wrong with the local substation- a good chunk of town was out.
Got in to the office, the remote developer did some of his most wft-maybe-I-should-put-this-on-the-sidebar stuff yet.

Smoking beedi not for you. It take particular clever type of fellow to smoke it without burning inside of your mouth.

This is what I propose to Mark Zuckerberg when building facebook, but he said "Like" is good enough for us. So I said, it is your loss. I think the forum in Germany got it right.

The people here are quite pleasant, all in all. This is far from the worst of the forums I have seen.
-
Name other worse forum. I promise to judge you when you post your list.
-
I'm really not sure you're ready for that, Nagesh. I wouldn't want to traumatise you.

Dunno, do you like a vicious community?
You mean, worse the dailywtf forums?
I come here for recuperation.

You should speak to @mikeTheLiar before making that call.

This is proof just how nice this community is - others would have posted the link, then, when Nagesh, after reading, posts "Aaaaarghhh......", would have liked that post.
-
I seem to polarise people. Plenty think me gruff, brusque and rude. And others think I'm too nice to people.

You mean mikeTheLiar might be able to produce a list of forums even worse than those on the list of Arantor?

More that he's such a terrible person that he could singlehandedly lower @Arantor's opinion of the forum.
-
My opinion of TDWTF was formed inclusive of @mikeTheLiar as well as some the rather illustrious names in this thread. It's still a place I like coming to.
-
I wonder if @mikeTheLiar gets a separate notification for each of these mentions...

I assume so. If he has email notification on, this might well mean one email per mention. @mikeTheLiar: can you confirm?

Ok.

We should probably stop mentioning @mikeTheLiar's name then; it could get quite annoying for him.
-
Well, he won't get any for the Filed Under stuff, but it'd really suck if it mentioned from the quote of a mention.

What about HTML comments?
That didn't work.EDIT:
Does anyone know why that didn't work?
-

The "s" implies a plural... so you mean, apart from Nagesh, you also consider other posters in this thread illustrious?
-
Yes. Your good self, for example. Seen your wit and wisdom around TDWTF quite a bit.
-
Or, in other words: "I hate people, animals and plants. Stones are ok."
Which you can buy here as a mottoed cutting board if you don't mind that the text is in german.

Bah, @mikeTheLiar wouldn't be so stupid to use an email address his mobile keeps polling for registration at the Discourse forum, now, would he?

@mikeTheLiar is no fool!
-
Only after the change to Discourse or before as well? Just curious, I was never really active in the old forum, just as anonymous poster on the frontside comments (albeit with the same nick).
-
I'm surprised that @mikeTheLiar hasn't come by to see what's going on in this topic. Would be a shame if he were actually trying to get some work done...

Of course, if @mikeTheLiar (how convient this autocomplete function is!) really does receive all these emails, he can create a new bug topic: "Email notifications should be restricted!!11eleven"

@mikeTheLiar
I turned email notification off as soon as I learned there was such a thing.Do you know if they work like "you have been mentioned in post 123, click here to read" or if they send the actual post?
I mean, it would be sort of a meta joke if @mikeTheLiar has a spam filter on but would receive the email with the Hormel picture. :-)

I think not quoting at all is a barrier to discussion and shouldn't be allowedThat said, some praise for Discourse: putting the text representation of the emoji in the alt attribute is a good idea!
-
Fuck you guys.
Fuck you right in the ear.
-
why, @mikeTheLiar?
-
Erm, I clicked on the "reply to ..." symbol in the title bar of your post to find out what post you had replied to... any idea, how I can collapse the block of "replies" now visible in the middle of the stream?
Filed under: there are still issues with the usability of Discourse

Not like I was at a client visit or anything.

Well, that answers one question:
