Windows Server?

We have a couple of threads for fuck-ups of Windows 10, Windows 11, and other "consumer" Windows versions. What about current Windows Server?
Just recently, MS fucked an update up. OK, what would you expect?
But on the other hand, do we still have more control over updates when using Windows Server? E.g. switch automatic updates off? Some web pages suggest that - but does it really work?
And what about removing Edge? And other telemetry...
I would like to get rid of my Windows 11 azure machine, and think of using a Windows Server 2022 instead. I do mostly C# development with a current Visual Studio Community Edition - would that make sense?

It works on the Pro/Enterprise versions of 11 so should work on Server.
My only real experience with Server is in an environment where updates are controlled by whatever WSUS is called this week rather than on each server though.

Should be fine, provided the stupid installer doesn't do Special Things just because it detected it's running on a Server installation.

I didn't notice any fuckup on windows 11 updates so far, I think you just need to install more luck

Azure only has Enterprise IIRC but standalone it's the same control over updates as Pro unless Azure forces them.

It's basically just the LTS updates.
I assume Enterprise is still cheaper than Server on Azure though, and for just running VS there's no benefit of Server instead.

I do not have a domain, so...I don't have access to standalone 11 Enterprise right now but I don't remember that being true?

I do not have a domain, so...You can edit "local" group policy (which is what I believe you're referring to) without being joined to a domain in all editions from Pro up.
