Have you done Mohg the Omen yet? He's fairly easily reachable for you.
Underneath Leyndell is the game's sewer "level" because all games have to have a sewer level. He guards the way to one of the main endings.
He's far far easier than his full form, unless you get the anti-gimmick physick. Gimmick boss fights are annoying; too many of them in this game.

Now that all bosses have been downed, Starsiege Radahn was probably the most difficult, with Malenia in second and Malekith third (and the only reason Malekith places is because he's the only boss with the ability to temporarily remove 1/3 of your max HP while dumping annoying DoTs on you). Mohg's countdown ability was amusing, but you can flask through it so it's no big deal. Elden Beast is a joke once you cast the holy damage resistance buff.
I finished the game with over 50 vigor, and it's funny that the Souls community frowns on statting for HP when in any other RPG you'd be foolish not to, especially in Diablolikes with hardcore mode. You know, maybe a hardcore mode is what Darkborne Ring needs....
From the standpoint of now having gotten gud, iframes still suck as a mechanic and there are still more difficult and more satisfying gaming experiences out there. That is not to say that it wasn't a worthwhile 120ish hours, though.

Different build types have problems with different bosses (for example, STR builds find several of the late game bosses exceptionally difficult; they're just not fast enough to deal with the weak moments reliably) but knowing when and how to dodge helps a lot with all of them.

Loving the way that lightning dragons are likely to crash the game and my graphics card. Everything else seems pretty good quality on a technical level, but lightning dragons… hah!

Was pretty good. I had to remember how to play 4 but once the learning curve was reconquered, the rest proceeded well. And in keeping with my previously stated tradition:
It reminds me of the days when expansions were something to be excited about, and not just DLC that didn't make it into the original release.

@error That's a tricky combo. The beast is very much about ranged damage (if you can) whereas Radagon is more about close quarters work. They both like doing holy damage.
If you can afflict them with a DOT such as Scarlet Rot, it's a lot easier.

Well, one specific item of underwear, anyway. AIUI, the item was in a pre-release version of the game, FromSoftware cut it from the final release, but players have hacked it into the game. If you get caught with it in your inventory, you may get banned, because "hacking bad", I guess.

The fact that gaming discourse still contain so much of the “if you dint play it the way I play it, you’re playing it wrong and you should feel bad” or even the “you didn’t cheat the game, you only cheated yourself and learned nothing” attitudes are neither helpful nor conducive to building interesting games.

@Gribnit Souls doesn’t have to be. I have to wonder if it is because the developers couldn’t figure out difficulty scaling back in the day and then just ran with it as a “feature”.
I don’t even mind it, per se, that a game is hard - if we could just move past the stupid gamer discourse that goes with it.

I've played through all of them and consider them nigh masterpieces. Certainly I don't believe they lacked "the wit" to tune the difficulty. I think they've nailed it.

And I agree about the masterpieces, at least as far as the enemy design. It shows creativity of the kind that Ed Greenwood and all the wannabes evidently cannot even dream of. Which is why I'd like to play these games, but I'm brickwalled from doing so.
There is no need for any other scaling than the flat DR multiplier

There was definitely some tongue in cheek there about the developer capability. But damage reduction multiplier is certainly not the only “assistance feature” that could be contemplated. Higher contrast modes for people with visual impairments, for example.
I’m definitely in the camp that I have neither the time nor the patience to git gud, so the entire series is effectively a write off for me, despite the fact that all other things aside I’d probably enjoy it especially for the story I understand it has.
Does that mean I think they should tailor it to me? Weeeeeelllll, it’d be nice if options existed in the game to tune the gameplay so I could enjoy it without the investment of git gud time, but even my ego isn’t that strained it could justify that. I’d honestly settle for the git gudders realising that not everyone is equal and just because they had to work at it, doesn’t mean everyone else is equally capability of doing so.
Like, mods exist. I could use those, I guess, but I feel like I’d never be able to admit to it out loud ever because it’d only get into that “you only cheated yourself” ideaology.

I don't have a problem with games offering an easy mode, or with player who choose that mode. I don't think it's a flaw if it's missing, however. I've honestly ruined good games for myself by choosing an unrealistic difficulty setting, and being too stubborn to turn back. In that regard, sometimes offering a difficulty setting is punishing those with too much pride. I think the FromSoft games are
though.

For some. For others it's hard to muster the reflexes needed or the time to train to recognize and act on all the tells.
There's not a real reason to exclude them from playing these games - you simply implement a "dampen enemy damage" or "increase the visibility of tells" or "slow down movement".
And then lock achievements or similar stuff behind "play the game on normal". That way everyone wins: The "git gud" crowd can show how "gud" they are, the rest can play the game and the developer earns more money.

(kindly refer to this post in this very thread, Exhibit B, for the difficulty options provided - several achievements are locked behind Core or above)This and just the general case of picking the wrong difficulty and sticking with it for some arcane reason keeps happening. People are too proud for their own good, eager to prove something to someone by making their own experiences arguably miserable and then rationalizing it post factum as some kind of overcoming a challenge. You get the euphoric feeling both for beating a boss because of your skill or because of good luck, or after the 10th savescum. To an outside observer the difference is clear.
There is a fine line in the sand of "how much retries is too much". How do I know when it's due to my lack of skill or maybe due to mistakes that I've made before - by not farming enough, by trying the wrong approach, by having made a bad build, by being underleveled in general? That's not quite as trivial as it sounds.

scalingwhatsoever. I am sure there is a cheat engine already made for Elden Ring where you can just bump all your stats to 99, if you really want to experience the story and atmosphere. I am not sure how hard the game would still be with max stats as I haven't tried it but I assume it would be beatable with limited effort.
Sure, the game itself could offer some sort of damage reduction etc but until they do you can always use mods (as long as you play offline) to experience it if you aren't a fan of the difficulty.

Honestly if someone is only playing offline why should I care if they make themselves immune to damage or whatever, if they're enjoying it more power to them. For me it would take the fun out of the game, but I can understand why someone would want to do it if they wished to see the bosses and experience the atmosphere of the games.
Then again I am not a very completive person - I only compare my achievements to what I think I can accomplish and not what others can.

Perhaps I have failed to communicate it clearly enough that I'm not looking to steamroll everything either. I just feel that the stick has been placed a tad higher than I can possibly jump.

Ah got it, yeah I can see there being no real good solution to that. Could possibly figure out the intended levels for each area and farm / cheat up to it but that seems like more trouble than it is worth.
