Lets get a Logo
-
We've got a strong concept from Dylan (who I'll send a mug or tee once it's finished): http://www.thedailywtf.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=26863#26953
Now we just need the final logo. Post em here. Rubber stamp imprint, ideally in in a Rubber-Stamp-ish type font. Single color only (for print purposes), I'm thinking a nice red ink tone. No need to add anything in the background (like Dylan's), just a basic stamp look.
Think the stamp you'd use at a Code Review ;-). On the gear I can always add some code in the background.
I'll buy a mug or tee for the person who comes up with the best looking one :-)
Thanks in advance!

any part of this can be any color you want.. anything else can be changed on it as well.

+1!

If you want a cute logo, use my pic instead... [:P]

Ya, I know it's simple.

I'm giving up bandwidth to submit this?

These are from hostile17:
"The key feature of a logo is that it has to work in a number of different sizes and in black and white as well as colour so there are three versions there. I figure that in the smallest sizes, the tagline "curious perversions etc." won't appear. "
I agree with that statement -- and I like the approach of going with a round stamp instead of a square. That's unique. Although, I'm not sure I like our tagline so much anymore ... I thought of it in a pinch because it asked me for one :-)
Actually, I like a lot of the ideas here; this is very exciting!
Let's give it a few days. I will post these in a main post and allow readers to vote by simply clicking on the image.

Alex! Please use this one for the logo! This is great!
-
I like that logo too, with my pic. So, already three votes in favor. [:P]
-
Alex...please man. Be cool and use the Katja logo. It makes so much sense.

Thought I have a go. I was inspired by a O_o smiley on some forum I visit often because it has such a WTF expression on it :)

I said: I vote for this one. But the forum disagreed.

Hah, that one's great.

Heh, I like this one. This is the facial expression I get when I look at the codes I 'inherited' from a coworker (former biologist) and some consultants. Why doesn't darwin work on sources?

Katja, after having viewed your avatar repeatedly (due to your many
posts, not any obsession with you [;)]), exactly what is that thing
appearing to stick out of your mouth?
Is it a lollipop or sucker? (In case the terms are unfamiliar to you,
it is a piece of candy on a stick that you suck on. Forgive me if
I underestimate your knowledge of english / american culture, I just
want to be clear.)

<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #efefef">its a bottle of coke it appears. Cant use someones pic as a logo. Anyway i wanna see a better voting system, this is chaos!</FONT>
<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #efefef">btw i vote for the red one with the face on the left.</FONT>
-
Wow, I didn't even notice the bottle until you mentioned it
(obviously). The transparent part (since some of the soda was
already consumed) made it hard to detect, given the size/resolution of
the image.

Katja, could you give us some background about your avatar? Where the photo was taken, what was going through your mind as you were sipping on the coke, etc.

Hmmm. It was taken two or three years ago, in a small town called Marken, in the Netherlands, I think. Don't know what I was thinking about back then. Probably just enjoyed the coke... I did not even realise I was photographed until my dad showed it later at home. :-)
-
Well I think (and someone back me up on this) that it looks like your contemplating something deep. Perhaps your future career as a programmer consultant...

Alex,
Why are you wasting your time with logos when there are still so many bugs in the forum software? The forum bugs should go away with an upgrade, I'm not even bothering fixing them at this point. Version 2.0 should be released soon (right now it is in RC2, we're using Beta 1), I will upgrade as soon as that comes out. It's not just as easy as copying the files over -- i had to do some customization to make this work for this site.
-
You mean Community Server 1.0. This stand-alone Forums version is
2.0.1. I am not too sure if CS 1.0 is a good deal unless you intend to
build a community with blogs and photos and all.

dude, like wheres to vote results like, this is giving me that "florida vote" feeling now

I'm being disenfranchised. My vote goes for http://www.ulement.com/wtflogo_katja.gif

My write-in vote is for Katja's Logo.

Alex, I think you already know that I'm voting for the Katja logo. That should go without saying.

I will announce the winner and close the poll at the same time, possibly tomorrow. I'd rather not influence choice by showing premature results ...
-
fair enough, thanks.
also, anything on my logo can change. i've heard a couple ideas in this thread that sounded pretty good .
thanks again.
-
Howabout this one?
-
In case you hadn't read, the polls are closed, and the logo is chosen!
Nice graphic, though!

Since other people are necroing ancient threads

How do I dislike a post?
-
sniped!
I dunno, I could like.... like your post.
Then it would be like you disliking mine?
I'm sure the RNGOK would agree
-
I like the existing logo a lot better than the broken-image logo everybody above seems to be suggesting.
-
Whaaaaa....
I'm a long time fan of the broken image icon.
-
That's as may be, but the existing logo still manages to convey the feeling of WTF!? better than broken-image does.
If we were The Daily One Eyed Robot Dinosaur, I'd be right with you.
