AFAICT you can marry anybody you've done a mini-quest for, except companions. Alas. "You can marry anybody except the characters you spend the most time with and rely on most."

My dude's a khajit, and I've yet to find a marry-able female khajit, so... hm. I still have a few places to look though.

Well, workplace romances are almost always trouble.

So you have something against interspecies relationships on top of being a male chauvinist piglet? Don't let omgiri find out. :p

Hey gay marriage is one thing, bestiality is another! Besides Khajit reproduction is... something else. I don't think that Nord woman would like to find out her son is going to grow into a 40' long cat monster because he was born in the wrong phase of the moon.

I thought she was an Imperial.. but there are elitist twits in all races of Tamriel, it seems, so you could be right on the Nord deal. (Unless she revealed her favorite race and I read over it...)

How did you figure fourty feet, though?  Doesn't that sort of go past the Giants' height?

  • I read this trainwreck of a thread before I bought the game. Now I've been playing it for a while and I think I'm about halfway through the main quest.

There are SO many strong female characters in this game -- royalty, guard commanders, warriors, merchants, wizards, etc. By and large those female characters who have authority are obeyed without question and no one ever gives them shit. Maybe there's a few lewd comments in books and throwaway dialogue from male characters, but I've hardly noticed.

Of course, for my character, all problems are eventually solved by repeated application of warhammer.

Here at The DailyWTF, we're so committed to Missing The Point that we Miss The Point even in goofy threads about video games!!

The point is that since Khajit kids have something like a 33% chance to grow up into something other than a sentient bipedal creature, the Nord woman would probably be a bit put-off at the idea.

But yes, if we're going to be pedantic dickweeds, I've re-checked the lore in the wiki and found that there are no known Khajit breeds bigger than large horse-sized. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INACCURACY IN MY GOOFY JOKE!

BTW, if you want to have fun in the PC version of Skyrim, go into 3-rd person view, hit Tilde to bring up the console, click somewhere on your character's body, and type: "setscale 0.1" and enter. Hilarity ensues.

Oh dear. o.o; And here I was honestly asking a question. My apologies that I didn't explain it was not meant to be dickweedery. (Some enormous dicks have made the blades on my mower all dull..)

    I didn't know Khajiit are able to get feral kids? Well, more feral than most of their species, I mean. I've only been trampling Tamriel's soil since Oblivion and have not found any such reference in any book in Cyrodiil or Skyrim. o.o;

The setscale minimizes the target, I suppose? (I'm on one of them eggsboxes.)

This is how it start, if you are nice to blakey he might wiht time heal and be nice himself, can you imagine a world with a nice blakeyrat?  Of course not, the laws of the universe would break and we would descend into chaos and madness.  And you would be solely responsable for that (I don't mind if civilization dies, but only if I die first or if I get front seats and salted chips to the show as it would be really fun to watch).

    Small things I tell you...

The proper response is a rant directed at the clueless developers and how undiscoverable this information is in their usability impaired app. Bonus points are awarded for mention of how a CLI-like game like Adventure did this better than the eye candy obsessed, non-standard interface loving corporate drones who write this crap. Lightbulbs are good, too.

  • Apperently a lot of people don't know you can Sprint with the Alt key (by default), faster than running, uses stamina.

And when you're overencumbered you can 'walk' faster by drawing a bow and holding the attack button as you move.

I didn't want to bring it up, but Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson did a whole lot better referencing books, IN books at that.

It plays much better with an Xbox controller.

Also with an Xbox controller plugged-in, all of the on-screen help prompts showed up normally, so I knew about all these controls. Probably the only thing in Skyrim that isn't buggy. (Patch tomorrow! Thank God.)

There's a meme going around for one of the guards who says, "I used to be an adventurer too, until I took an arrow in the knee." (Replace "adventurer" with something else.) He's trying to make an especially unfunny version of this already tired meme.

What I don't get is why that's a meme and not the dozens of genuinely hilarious things characters in the game say to you. Even if you're only talking about guards, there's still the super-sarcastic, "oh, let me guess, someone stole your sweetroll?"

If you play a Khajit there's a ton of great ones, too. (I bet every race has them, but I only know the Khajit ones.) My personal favorite is: "is that... fur? Growing out of your ears?"

  • @blakeyrat said:

Why would that be weird for a Khajit?

I think the fact that the joke makes no sense is one of the things I find so hilarious about it.

  • Hmm, I've only played a Breton, and I think i've heard that one, after becoming a Werewolf... so might not be Khajit specific?

The 'bark' triggers are sometimes weird in Oblivion derived games, The first mod I made for Fallout NV was to adding a clause to all the companion barks along the lines of 'AND Random(10) == 1', so still got some funny lines, but not every single time.

  •  Yeah, it's triggered by being a werewolf.  It's still dumb for them to say it to khajits though.

  • Argonian werewolves must be exceptionally weird... Or was it determined that argonians arn't actually reptiles, but just have a skin condition? (the females do have breasts... ?)

  • @bgodot said:

    Recite the mantra!

  • There is not a perk tree for hand to hand, but the "fists of steel" perk in the Heavy armor tree does scale with your gear and is probably the only really viable way to do unarmed in the game. Unfortunately for you this probably means starting over, losing the light armor skills and goiing Heavy Armor, but that's honestly what most builds suggest you do with anything that is going to sit there and take a beating.
