Misspelled something? No problem, use an alias!

  • _ is easy to type on my keyboard. Shame that {}[] aren't.

I've had a similar problem on OS X. Downloaded some open source software from NASA,extracted the source with tar xf, and then it wouldn't build. It took me ages to work out that the reason was two files in the tarball whose names differed only in case.

FWIW, I'm in full agreement that you should follow the relevant convention rather than your own preference.

The underscore character is cumbersome to type because of its position on the keyboard
Really? I suppose, assuming a US QWERTY-style keyboard, you'd also complain about having to type the right paren, minus sign or plus sign often? The former two you don't appear to have a problem using since you used quite a few of them in your post.

The discussion wasn't about using parenthesis, or the minus/plus sign. It was about a naming convention between camel case and underscores. But, since you brought it up, yes they are disruptive to typing rhythms.

Is it really that difficult for you to use your left little finger on the shift and your right little finger for the -/_?

Well if that's the only problem, there's an easy solution...

I see that you typed something, but all that I read is WOOSH. You've obviously missed the entire point to my reply. But, when all you want to do is nitpick, it's no wonder. You're too busy being pedantic to actually understand the intent. :)

    No problem!  Just use trigraphs!
