New: AJAX without Javascript

A new invention on the web has been made: AJAX without Javascript! (AAX?)
I guess everybody read it already at slashdot:
http://developers.slashdot.org/story/10/04/24/1734241/Proof-of-Concept-For-Ajax-Without-JavaScript?art_pos=1
Though as the site is down, you need a lot of luck to be able to see what it actually is. Guess what it is?
An IFRAME! Jup. Just an iframe.
Is this "Jonathan" guy a troll, or is he as brainless as he seems?

I don't think it's 90 feet. It's like, 10 feet at most.

Oh crikey, I'd forgotten about using iframes like that... I think I last did that in 1998! But that was with JavaScript and what we now call JSON (and much of it generated from VBScript!) Oh yeah, and it was hidden iframes.
This guy wants to do it without the client-side script and just pumping out HTML from a CGI script. Loverly! But I'm not sure how that helps in situations where AJAX is normally applied :/
