I wonder how much of this is due to a third variable. Because light running/jogging doesn't really burn that many calories, but people who stick to an exercise plan are more likely to care about their health/diet.

@bb36e Absolutely. It takes discipline to maintain an exercise regime, and that discipline also helps the diet.

@RaceProUK Meanwhile, my little spreadsheet is still working well for me even though I'm still fat enough that just moving about at all constitutes exercise.
