RE: Discotime in Emojiland
BTW @kevinranks, welcome to TDWTF. Here; meet @blakeyrat. He occasionally makes valid arguments, and at other times makes death threats. Don't worry too much about it.

Not sure if good idea or evil idea.

Don't make me break out the Firefox Flip3D again...
Too late.

RE: 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD
I had to open the console and disable javascript to read this in comfort. The all caps impact font was bad enough already.
-
RE: 🙅 THE BAD IDEAS THREAD
Yeah... I was waiting for an 'April Fools' or a 'Gotcha!' trollface at the end of the page. Nope. I think they might be serious. Then again, I'm hardly surprised at this.

RE: Long topic titles overrun visual elements on mobile
Closed wontfix. Clearly your mobile isn't cutting-edge enough. Please consult Jeff for advice.

RE: Use Cases for proposed user interfaces - add your own design ideas, or criticize others'
I also used to use Logicator at school. What made this particular system nice and manageable was that at any point, you could pull some piece of logic off into a separate macro and call it with a macro block.

Thankfully, UE4 simplifies and prettifies things a little... and also provides gridlines.
Editing image because their stupid wiki insists on forcing the PNG as a download.

RE: Use Cases for proposed user interfaces - add your own design ideas, or criticize others'
Sounds like you'd want something a bit like RegexBuddy but for CLI. That representation isn't quite as fancy since it's just a treeview, but it does a good job of explaining the matching steps.
Also made me think of Kismet in the Unreal Editor. Now that shit gets messy, fast.

Yes! Code highlighter got it right.

RE: Bot Duel!
See http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/signatureguylabs-top-secret-discussion/3031 for implementation details. From what I can see, no browsers needed thus far.

RE: Dont need no loops
Looks like they fixed most of the markdown issues you were trying to illustrate in that topic. It's been rebaked a few times since you wrote it.
-
RE: Bot Duel!
Indeed. That reminds me... We probably need to keep track of who is running the bots in case one of them starts Doing It Wrong.

RE: CTRL+Enter posts replies
True. It's one of those emerging UI 'unspoken rules' like the hamburger menu, but much more mature.

RE: Chrome's reopen closed tab reverts to a state long before the tab was closed
I've seen many fancy ajaxy sites fail to recover after being restored. The more fancy, the worse they are. Other than doing a
setInverval
heartbeat inside the page to see if it's still alive, I wouldn't have a clue where to start. All this JS URL and hash fiddling stuff is hard. -
RE: Chrome's reopen closed tab reverts to a state long before the tab was closed
Not sure what to say to this. All the browsers' different methods for handling page state recovery when using back/forward/restore tab vary wildly and there are no standards for it that I'm aware of.

RE: CTRL+Enter posts replies
Ctrl+Enter has become commonplace in desktop apps and web apps using multiline or rich text fields over the years. As loopback0 said, use plain old Enter or Shift+Enter instead.
This is one of the few things that Discourse does right. Seriously, legitimate case for WONTFIX here.

RE: I earned the sexy CSS award (also: Ask riking to fix stuff-topic!)
Indeed. I'd say it's still a vulnerability since it could be used by one mod/admin against another. Since the original XSS issue with badges was cleaned up, this should be too.
@PJH XSS Award partial credit?
Filed under: Goddamnit these new emojis are even creepier than the old ones.

RE: Sexy Sock Puppet Master List
example.com used to be a reserved, empty domain for illustrative purposes only. Then some dimwit decided that it should actually be a domain that shows an info page... This means that the owner of example.com could take over a bunch of Discourse forums if the admins didn't change this file!

RE: ScholRLEA's fetish for licensing and LISP thread
Very true, although that's a completely different definition of macro.
-
RE: Stack Overflow
Nope. You can only do that with Ember.js. Liek, do yr research dude.
-
RE: I earned the sexy CSS award (also: Ask riking to fix stuff-topic!)
Did I miss the part where someone got an XSS award for reporting this, or am I the first to notice that there is an XSS vulnerability in the Details column of that table?

RE: Sexy Sock Puppet Master List
Are Jeff & Co in this list of developers? Yes, bundle a backdoor into every distribution by default!
-
RE: Html badge!
I guess Jeff will respond by limiting to 10 images per post? Like the limit of 10 @mentions per post? Or perhaps there already is one, and the gotcha was that this restriction was not applied to profiles?

RE: Markdown Drama Part III - The Revenge of the CommonMark
If the document contains U+0041 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A, U+0041 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A will be emitted.
FALSE! If the document contains only U+0041 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A then it shall be considered an invalid post due to all-caps... or being too short... etc.
Oh boy... Yet another divergent implementation.
