However, it would be very cheap to host such a service!

RE: UI Iconography
He would go through all the effort of founding StackOverflow and then, years later, an ultimate WTF forum product, just to troll us? That would be spectacular. I would feel humbled.

RE: 😈 The Evil Ideas thread
Wow. So have they profiled budgets for different browser users? Who gets the lowest prices?

RE: The Official Good Ideas Threadâ„¢
Can we add Bacon Mockup to the onebox whitelist? Meanwhile, filling Discourse's image cache with copyrighted images....

RE: I just found a legitimate use-case for infiniscroll, WTF
No. You're doing it wrong. What you need is a toast notification
Hey, it looks like there's another page of discussion over there.

public enum BugStatus { CANTFIX, BECAUSEJEFFSAIDSO, WONTFIX = BECAUSEJEFFSAIDSO, OUTOFSPITE = BECAUSEJEFFSAIDSO, ASDESIGNED = BECAUSEJEFFSAIDSO, YOURDOINGITWRONG = BECAUSEJEFFSAIDSO, FIXEDBYSAM }
Added that elusive final status.
Edit: fixed

RE: Stack Overflow
Revive this topic?
Yeah, go on. I'm feeling lucky. Anyway...
I was wondering, if someone were to write a bot that looked for unanswered questions, ran it through a Google search, and picked the top result that wasn't equal to the current question... How much rep could it get?

Close.js
Continuing the discussion from The evil ideas thread:
Close.js
With close.js, you can close an iOS web app right from javascript! Just use the closewebapp() function.
function closewebapp() { document.write("<section id=\"sectionndjfrjvbjreiajjzkf\"></section>"); document.write("<style>"); document.write("#sectionndjfrjvbjreiajjzkf {"); document.write(" height: -webkit-calc(0% + 0px);"); document.write(" -webkit-transition: height 1s ease-in;"); document.write(" z-index:-999;"); document.write("}"); document.write("</style>") }
Edit: fixed syntax highlighting
So, apparently the reason why this exists is this.
Apple... Come on... We're not fucking babies. Sometimes we want to have some control over our devices. I wasn't dreaming of touching an iOS device before, but now I'll keep extra distance.

RE: Procurement also has it's WTF moments
Sounds like the waterfall budgeting model.
Also, never mind that company X went out of business 2 months ago. The money must be paid to them anyway!

RE: The "fa-spin" Testing Thread
OK, fine, I signed up again on the new forum just to like this topic. Best abuse I've seen so far.
I'm guessing that slapping an
overflow:hidden
on post contents would mostly solve the issue.Edit: on second thought, after seeing the 'Page Disabled Testing Thread' I think we'd probably need to disable classes altogether. http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-official-page-disabling-thread/1484

Bad Words List and How to Abuse it Here
Many forums have a 'badword' feature that replaces swear words with tamer equivalents. Does Discourse have this? If so, we should abuse it.
For example: brilliant! => brillant!

Is it random per session or discriminating by user agent? I assume they're all from the same IP.

RE: Functional Testing is for End Users
It is a function of the fake Indi plug-in he's using.
Where can I install this? I might be working with some outsourced devs soon and I want to blend in.

RE: UI Iconography
It does, doesn't it? Hence the whole feeling of being trolled. I never did work out if
SwampyNagesh was a long term troll or genuinely insane. -
RE: UI Iconography
The plan wouldn't have been so perfect if he didn't already have some reputation behind him, so making SO and his blogs were an important part of the trolling blueprint.
-
RE: I think we made @CodingHorror mad
we didn't implement this yet but we might at some point in the future so we added the button anyway
Sounds like that 'Download archive of my posts' button in Discourse.

RE: Sexy Sock Puppet Master List
Yeah. Pretty much this. If you wanted to make a list of additional characters that were considered distinct enough to be 'username-safe' you'd have to do it manually. Not even unicode normalization would be able to solve this inherently human issue.

RE: 😈 The Evil Ideas thread
I’ll just leave this here for the next Discourse XSS hole...https://www.smore.com/clippy-js
We could build this in as an extension to Discourse and create a virtual Jeff Atwood that can say You're Doing It Wrong while you perform various actions in the forums in real-time!

RE: Functional Testing is for End Users
Hey, you know what else bothers me as a web developer? HTML. While we're reinventing the web, why don't we get rid of that clunky standard and use something new and hip like Markdown?

RE: Markdown Drama Part III - The Revenge of the CommonMark
Blockquotes and paragraphs inside list items.... Code tags inside pre tags... Pedantic dickweedery about the number of spaces needed to continue a list...
This is almost front-page material. We just need a racial stereotype and a new hire and the job of HTML-not-invented-here is done.

RE: Not sure which is TRWTF - Me or IIS web.config
So... Match
{SERVER_PORT_SECURE} = 1

over{HTTPS}

Closed wontfix. Clearly your mobile isn't cutting-edge enough. Please consult Jeff for advice.

RE: Unsetting an unset variable
And also enough XSS vulnerabilities to make Discourse look like an iron curtain.
Then again, Community Server still takes the biscuit.
-
RE: Unsetting an unset variable
Looks like the code might have hardened over time, but the developers haven't. They're still making the same schoolboy errors.

RE: Dont need no loops
Looks like they fixed most of the markdown issues you were trying to illustrate in that topic. It's been rebaked a few times since you wrote it.
-
RE: The Fresh Synchronization
As much as I like Java, I think the decision to allow programmers to synchronize on any object was a bad one. Similarly for adding
wait
,notify
and so on to the baseObject
class, where those features should have been assigned specifically to a specialized utility class. -
RE: :barrier: The hero that Discourse deserves...

RE: Discourse Broken CSS: What is this icon doing here?
Oh, well that's totally obvious and intuitive then! I bet it's documented too. How silly of me to go asking silly questions!
But yeah, the 'reply as new topic' link is still messed up.
