I took one of the boxes and wrote "GALLON" on both sides that could face out of the cupboard.
Or keep them in a kitchen drawer, instead of cupboard, with the open side facing up. One is significantly larger than the other, making it immediately obvious which is which.
-
I always buy generic versions of ziplocks, 'cause they're good enough and cheaper
You can get 'em in bulk, and presumably cheaper, at Sam's.
And the genuine ones DO put the size on the end. I just checked.
-
Why not all the boxes in the store?
Don't you want to save people other than yourself?
-

That would do it, except the cupboard is the best place. I already have the drawers filled with drawer stuff.

I get a lot of stuff there, but for these, I don't really have room for the bigger boxes. I have thought about it, though.

Don't you want to save people other than yourself?I haven't been back to that store since. If I go, I'll try to remember to bring a sharpie.

To me, those are drawer stuff, along with plastic wrap, aluminium foil, waxed paper, etc.
the cupboard is the best place.
Clearly not, or this subject wouldn't even have come up.

Those are in bins atop the fridge.

No, the problem was getting them from the wrong store. My normal supplier is perfectly cromulent.

Out of pantry space, eh? Sam's sells boxes that are somewhat larger than the ones you'd get at the grocery store, bundled into 4-packs. It's some extra space, but not a lot, unless space is actually that tight.

Yeah, I really don't have a lot of extra space. And I generally don't go through them that fast.
-
Yeah, I really don't have a lot of extra space.
Aren't you in a house? You must have it pretty full with other stuff, then.
I'm in a 2BR apartment, and space is REALLY at a premium, but I managed to find the space for these. Then again, I only need to get these about once or twice a year at the rate I go through 'em.
-
Aren't you in a house?
It's a townhouse. Not terribly large.
You must have it pretty full with other stuff, then.
I've told my wife that we can never move due to how full the attic is.
-
I've told my wife that we can never move due to how full the attic is.
The last time we moved I told my wife that the next time did it I'd be tempted to just leave everything behind and buy all new stuff.
-
The last time we moved I promised that the next time we move we can hire movers :/
-
When we moved last, we only moved 20 miles. We spent a few hundred dollars, I think it was about $300, and got 3 guys and a truck who did all the loading and unloading. It was absolutely money well spent if you're not in your 20s and have a handful of friends who will help for pizza and beer.
Frequently you can get off-duty firemen to do it fairly cheaply, and if you're the religious type, you can usually get the same help from churchgoers.
-
Out of pantry space, eh?
I initially read this as:
Out of panty space, eh?
Then was like ("what does that have to do with anything?") for a good couple of minutes until I went back and re-read...

FWP: Having to drive to work at less than 50mph because of the fog. While it's 0F.

Last time I moved I went to IKEA (ironic) and there you can find lots of "free-lancers" from eastern European countries who would do this for 200€ or so. Depending on your negotiation skills. At the end of the day I also gave them pizza, beers and some unwanted appliances and furniture.

Let's not get started with the "drive to work" thing. I bet we all live our personal hell with this.

I bet we all live our personal hell with this.
Technically, my personal hell involves a long train commute…
-
The train part of my commute takes about 5-7 minutes.
The bus part, about 20 minutes. The waiting time between the two? Either near-zero, but close enough to reach the other part just in time ... or half an hour.

The most exciting part of my morning is catching my bus, specifically, making the transfer
-
I have a 20 minutes conmute by car and then 20 minutes in Metro and a 5 minutes walk. Not bad actually.
-
.... all this talk of commute makes me embarassed at my 10 minute commute....
-
lol. I have a 10-minute commute and half of that is spent waiting for one red light at a no right turn on red intersection to change.

4 minutes of my commute is spent on a 4 block section of road because they fracked up the timing of the lights... they've been complaining to city planning for years and they havent fixed it.
there are other routes io could take but they are less predictable as to the time and they don't average any faster.
-
.... all this talk of commute makes me embarassed at my 10 minute commute....
Sometimes the kids or my wife leave stuff on the stairs and I have to step over it.
-
and now i don't feel so guilty.

Thanks to my car being kaput, my commute is currently shorter than me

Mine is 6 minutes if I catch one intersection at the right time.

Screw you all. If I were to get up at 4:00 am, I could be to work in 30 minutes. Since I generally catch the beginnings of rush hour (which is bad at this time of year with the damn snow birds), It generally takes me about an hour. If traffic is really heavy*, that can easily double (rarely more).
* Let's just say that I'm glad most sports events are late enough to not interfere with my drive home. And that the Superbowl is on a Sunday instead of a weekday.
-

Time to get a lift to work in the morning rush hour: 30 mins (or more.)
Time to walk back home in the evening: 25 mins.If it weren't so damn cold in the morning at the moment I'd walk then as well.
-

I'll think of you on my commute home after work. Had I read your message earlier I would have done it when I went home for lunch and to walk the dog.
-
Screw you all.
OK, you make me feel better about my 30 minute commute (though I pass by an arena so on a game day it can go to 1:30).
-
And all of you are making me feel better about my hour in the morning, and hour and half in the evening.
Also, Weng (who is driving 80 miles each way)
Also: to bring up those people, anybody read or listen to "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", by Shirer [sic]??
It's on 63 CDs or something, which didn't bother me... ;)
I was kinda worried though, that maybe, just maybe, if goes into that much detail, it might be kind of dry

There's an African woman with a 6 hour commute to fresh water.

6 hour commute to fresh water.
Without further information, it's difficult to say whether that's as poor a choice of residence as it initially seems.

I have a multi-stage commute.
- 5 minutes by car (or 15–20 minutes walking).
- 15 minutes by train.
- 5 minutues transfer.
- 60 minutes by train.
- 20 minutes walk (or take the bus; around 10–15 minutes in traffic normally).
I find disconnected working useful; I can write quite a bit of code on the train…
-
My commute is a 10k bike ride which takes me 30 minutes door to door or 21-24 minutes of moving time.
FWP: When it rains my cycle computer stops working
-
A road on my commute has been closed the last two days. There's a reasonable though slightly slower route around the blockage, except that with Skinnerburn closed the road leading to/past it is solidly backed up with traffic until just after the point where one is committed to that route. I'm either going to have to come through the centre of town, or go out and back down the motorway via a particularly confusing and nasty-looking junction that truly terrifies me.
The closed road is unadopted, so the Council have no responsibility for it or information about why/for how long it's closed (though it doesn't look short-term; concrete barriers across the road). For all I know the owners have decided they don't want it to be a right of way any more.

Is this your admission that you hurt the delivery guy?

impotently rage
If you check your spam folder, you can probably find something to help with that.

I wasn't even at home, but I left clear instructions for my wife, so I'll find out soon, I guess...

Some kind of specialist?
Was watching Fox<yawn, your FTFY jokes bore me>News the other day, and there were two ads in a row that I thought were interesting. One was a Cialis competitor (can't remember which and doesn't matter) and the next was some sort of skincare thing that gets rid of acne.
So, two products for getting you laid at different ends of your life.
