Where is the reply as a new topic button?
-
This is a very old request:
Re: Can we make 'reply as new topic' always visible?
I can't even quote a post in a locked topic like this: https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/20479/this-topic-was-moved
-
@fbmac, please stop registering alts.
-
-
@anotherusername Userscript is useless for mobile users
-
@clippy NodeBB is useless for mobile users.
-
You can only reply-as-topic to an entire thread, unfortunately, not to an individual post within a thread. So, just do it manually.
-
Simple: click the reply as new topic button at the top or bottom of the thread, erase the editor contents, then click quote on the relevant post.
Profit!

-
@Tsaukpaetra there is no quote button in locked topics
-
WONTFIX No longer welcome here
-
@candlejack1 How the fuck are you logging in?
-
@ben_lubar You know like when you kill Shang Tsung and he starts transforming in a lot of things?
-
This is getting annoying
-
@ben_lubar does banning a user invalidate all of their login sessions?
(no, I don't want you to test it on me)
-
@anotherusername I think permanent bans are somehow silently turning into 0-duration temporary bans.

This is like that time Jeff banned everyone from meta
Except, you know, completely different

They do, but it's not immediate. It happened only after they posted something.
That's almost as bad

So if you've been banned, you can access the entire forum as long as you don't post a reply? I hope that's not true...

Hey, @ben_lubar if I create a sockpuppet and request TL3 from it, can you accept then ban it so we can see what I can get to?

@Jaloopa sure I guess
-
@bb36e the regular forum can be read by non-users, and how many people with lounge access have been banned? Removing their access to the lounge and then banning them would probably prevent them from seeing it anymore.

I guess there's always the option of completely deleting their account, right?

@fbmac banned on a user account that had lounge access? Or just on sockpuppets that didn't?
-
@anotherusername I'm sure it would, but I'd imagine if someone with lots of access really pissed off a forum's moderators, the idea of revoking their privileges before banning them isn't very intuitive.

I think it is; that way if they ever get un-banned they're starting from TL0 again.
-
I had stupidly assumed that clicking "Ban User" on this dialog would ban the user permanently instead of for 0 hours:
-
@ben_lubar What if you specify 0 days instead of 0 hours?
-

@pydsigner my gut instinct is that a time of 0 is considered permanent, but putting 0 in the box adds 0 to the current time.
-
-
So which accounts are fbmac's sockpuppets and why are they being banned?
Can I keep the otter one?
-

Nope, and also:
-
@ben_lubar But there's some sort of internal disconnect, because @clippy shows as banned, but I'm getting notifications about him doing things.
-
@ben_lubar said in Where is the reply as a new topic button?:
Nope
-
@anotherusername oh right, not all bans are permanent
-
@bb36e There's always September.

@ben_lubar did you unban me on porpoise?

No, just couldn't figure out how to enter in "0" to the Ban screen.
-
@Tsaukpaetra I guess @julianlam is just too nice to take banning seriously
-
@Tsaukpaetra he could edit the DB to ban him until a.

I wonder... what would happen if he entered in "-1"?
