Speaking as a proud non-owner of a facebook account, I wonder what those fuckers would tell me when I told them to go screw themselves?
Also doubly funny, you CANNOT add an addendum to an executed contract ex post facto. You could add the addendum during the next lease renewal, and to all new leases though. And I would line-out that sumbitch. It would be a deal breaker.
I suppose they could ask their tenants to open negotiations into a new lease to take the place of the existing one. But the tenants would have to agree to that. I suppose if it was me, if those fuckers offered me something for it (-$100/mo off rent, every month, for the length of the lease), I would be willing to create a fake facebook account, and friend them. I would delete it, as soon as I moved though, and in the meantime I would create 5 additional accounts to roast them with, and I would negatively review them everywhere, while looking for a new place to live, naturally.
Social media ... I have said it before, and I will say it again ... fuck it. It is the hive of scum and villainy of the internet, mostly populated by morons and fools.

@FrostCat made one of these before, except with a cane instead of a sword:
It was my profile background for a while on discourse, but apparently I didn't save it somewhere that I could find it again.
-
I could understand if it was a 'follow' instead of a 'like', that way the complex could easily tell it's tenants about upcoming events, maintenance, etc. But begging someone for a like or else is kind of stupid. My first complex I lived in suggested we join their online community/social media thingie to get updates, but it was a slow, difficult to use site that was tedious to do anything on and no one else really used the social media portion.

I thought I'd check out Internet Archive. It doesn't have the current user page archived, but it DOES have something for the Discurse user page URL. And it's perfect for Discurse:
-
@FrostCat To be fair, that's what my user page looked like most times you'd try to view it.
-
@boomzilla I know, but it's a fitting coda to our time on that platform.
I looked on both of my work computers and was unable to find the image, unfortunately. If I remember I will try to look when I get home.
-
@theBread Even that's massively idiotic - there's a million better ways to do it. Snail mail. E-mail. Flyer taped to the front door. A noticeboard in a hallway. Christ, if that really insist on using Twacegram+, just make it an open, publicly accessible page/feed/who gives a shit, and hand out the URL so anyone who cares about what they have to say can just bookmark the URL instead of having to sign up for some horrendous piece of shit of a site.
In a just world, if someone pulled this I'd be legally allowed to lock them inside the building and set it on fire. I gotta get working on that whole emperor of the galaxy thing.

Facebook is already struggling with the dilution of their likes. If this takes hold they will be forced to introduce a "really like" option.

Perhaps they should go the other way and introduce a “fake like” option?
-
@dkf and then show it only to the likee and their circle of friends?
Yes your honor I dutifully "liked" the landlord as I promised in the contract.
He says you used the "fake like" option and caused anxiety in extremis.
I was not aware of the distinction, I just ticked the box that said "Are you in any way obliged or forced to like this person/company and would not do so if these circumstances were removed? (bots: no lying)"
So you expressed that you were forced to give said "like"?
As a matter of fact
This has led to extensive mockery and even a lost contract when this faking of your contractual duties was exposed through friendornot.com.
I'm deeply sorry for this and I have updated his friend status to "real friend" when I was made aware of the issue.
Further confirming your willingness to fake friendship statusWHERE WILL IT END?

Don't look at me. I know next to nothing about the internet abomination known as Facebook. Which, in yesteryear would have been known as "the sketchy bulletin board down by the docks where the creepy people hang out."
-
@Vaire yeah yeah yeah, you're too cool for facebook and whatever.
The current UI only has liking as an action for pages, with various notification preferences under that. Events you can mark that you're "interested", which doesn't RSVP yes but does let you see things from the event feed on your feed, but for pages it's all likes.

Nothing to do with .gif support when you're embedding another site's content...

I am afraid I am going to have to insist that @ben_lubar send me an engraved and monogrammed notice for each update. We of the royal set simply do not have the time for such frivolities such as monitoring a thread

Sidenote, since I can't reply in the Updates thread itself:
Ben, thanks for the last round of updates where you had release notes that said what was updated (including links to the appropriate places). It made seeing what was in the update much easier and more informative.

I'd love to delete my account, but too many of my friends use it for organizing events and keeping in touch. Network effects win again. I do make a point not to post anything of value there, though.

It isn't a social network really, more of a chat platform.

imgur.com/tos
Specifically:
Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.
Imgur is a place to share images, not be a personal image host service. But I'm not going to argue that here.

That's probably something the people who use the imgur plugin for NodeBB should know about... @julianlam @barisusakli

I'm not hosting libraries, or content for MY website, advertising or avatars. I'm using them as an image host.
They are "the judge of that" though, so if tdwtf is pounding their servers harder than a presented tail with "free yiffing" written on it-- then I'm sure they'll
banno longer welcome here TDWTF. Or show up here and tell us to fuck off.FWIW, I use them mainly because my screenshot software has a button that uploads the image to imgur with a single click (and copies the link to clipboard). Much easier than saving, giving it a file name, coming back here, uploading-- selecting the file, hoping it doesn't fail.
I could self-host more of the images (I do a few-- including the XKCDRandom "image"), and even my shitty home server can take the load from tdwtf ( ).

Yeah, this happened to an (apparently) popular fanfiction site. For years users were allowed Imgur uploads in story comments, and after the TOS change on Imgur's side, they promptly blacklisted the site, despite years of usage by the the commenters.

Then again, it's always a tossup if, after entering a thread, and I press PGDN if it will scroll down, or randomly focus the first link on the page. So I'm not holding my breath for ANY feature to work. Ever.

Nope, didn't even work on latest Firefox. Only works with chrome.
