Poll: Discourse Tagging Plugin

It's not that much prettier in stock IE 11/W8.1 (granted, nobody would ever test for IE, because it's such a low-use-rate browser, and W8.1 is barely above the system minimums for DC...)
-
-
Ideally you need 95, 98 or, if you can afford to splash out, 2000
-
Why not try it on TDWTF? It's been a while since we've had something interesting to break...
Filed under: inb4 "for that exact reason"
-
Because the spoilsports round here don't like it (and I get the blame off Jeff for updating so frequently) - hence the code-freeze.
-
Maybe someone could start a topic: Let's go back to latest!
-
Maybe I wasn't too explicit...
@PJH said:I get the blame off Jeff [for new bugs on here]
Quite how he made that leap of logic I'm unclear, but I'm sure It's The Right Thingâ„¢ to think.
Obviously.
So, no. We're staying on beta.
At least until a DiscoAdmin®©™ updates us between betas anyway.
-
I'll try it on my instance - see how bad it is...
Hmmm..
Interesting URL.... Tag was copy-pasted the tag from the first bolded mention here which View Source tells me there's no shenanigans going on there.
-
Ok - that's that sorted.
No way is tagging, in its current form, coming over here....
-
Spoilsport.
-
Found a few other featurettes with it while playing about with it with @Keith
- No logging as to who's created which tag
- History doesn't record changes to tags on first post
- Unicode URLs!
- No admin interface
- Potentially some rather wonderful new XSS opportunitues.
I know it's early days, but...
-
1, 2 and 5 seem pretty standard for Discourse functionality?
It's been a while since an XSS badge was awarded.
-
-
Oh - and this..
Clicking on the tag (which should produce a list of posts with that tag):
And the tag cloud:
-
-
I love how tags without topics get a very errory 404 page - and not one that simply says "no topics found".
-
Now that you mention it, @Keith has just produced one.
(Dodgy skip since I didn't bother doing any editing)
-
Why don't they test this shit? Enough of these types of defect have been found they should know better. Even Discodevs.
-
-
Why don't they test this shit?
This is early software still in development - I'm sure they'll get around to testing at some point. At least before they recommend world+dog include the plugin in their live sites....
If it's not clear, this is just running on one of my boxes I set up a DC instance to mess around with.
Bugger off.
-
I made it beautiful:
-
Tag a topic with it!

Yeah...but...with all the trouble they have to go through sanitizing everything, it shouldn't be so much to ask that we go through this nonsense for every single damn thing they add to a page.

ISTR a library function being mentioned that they should be using to deal with all that but aren't - a quick skim through the thread produced this which isn't what I was thinking of..

Too bad JavaScript doesn’t support putting text into a DOM item without interpreting it as HTML...

Yeah I know, this just doesn't seem ready even for release to any Discocustomer.
-
so we can expect it in the next beta?
-
Probably not. I don't see much benefit to it until at least they per-post tagging sorted - and given the state of the backend at the moment, that may be a while.
-
Probably not.
... you thought i was serious there?
while i would fully expect to see tagging hit here if we were still on canary i'm expecting the release schedule to be a bit more refined for betas....
if it isn't..... well then we have problems.
;-P
-
-
Well we have Discourse, so....
Dave had a problem. Then he thought "I know i'll use
Regular ExpressionsDiscourse! Now Dave has N2+1 problems (where N is the number of problems Dave knows about)
-
Look like we have a Professional Offendee on Behalf of Others over on meta...
T'was in relation to this post.
-
Well trolled.
-
congratz on the troll.
-
Well I've heard nothing back from them yet, and there's been no other actions/communication.
-
Any idea where they're from? Some european countries have crazy speech restrictions, don't they?
-
Maybe they're now assuming it's the Hindu symbol and not the Nazi swastika
-
Maybe they're now assuming it's the Hindu symbol and not the Nazi swastika
now i'm trying to remember... does the hindu swastika (which was IIRC lifted and warped beyound all recognition of meaning by the Nazis (paging @godwin)) have the arms go around the same way as the nazi flag, or do they go around the other way....
i can't remember and for a couple of reasons that's not a GIS i'm going to perform in the office today.
-
-
-
huh... well then.
damnit @hilter!
-
Maybe they're now assuming it's the Hindu symbol and not the Nazi swastika
You may have to ask @Keith to confirm, but I'm 99.9% certain that that assumption would be wrong.
-
no other communication.
There was a brief internal discussion and the lack of a decision was to leave it.
-
....
have i mentioned that i miss @sam
that guy is the nice one.
well other than @riking, obviously.
-
Did you expect an evil trout to be nice?
