Went to an O2 shop, they looked at it, phoned their support line up, and then told me that I would get a new card by snail mail.
Here they'd give you a new SIM in the shop and activate it there and then.
I remember seeing commercials about being able to get a cell phone with plan and being able to use it as you leave the store. Two decades ago.

I assume he got mail with a replacement SIM for his existing number, not just any random-ass new SIM.

Yeah - when I said activated I meant activated with the existing number.

You would think that the delegator would have taken care to make sure, but alas, that would almost sound sane.

A few years ago I changed providers by going to a mall kiosk and purchasing a sim card. It was active, with my old number ported to it by the time I got out to the parking lot.

It was only supposed to take 8 hours!
Western Digital are complete asshats for labeling a drive that has throughput that $5 flashdrives laugh at as NAS.
Seriously, I'm pretty sure my USB 2.0 no-names from ten years ago had better performance than this!
So, if I assume 5% per day, that leaves only 8 days to go!
Edit: Also, apparently you can "trim" a SMR drive. Seeing if that helps anything.

Normally I’d agree but it felt like I needed to assert just how hard the kneeling of the warthog was. Knees digging into the Earth levels.

As laid out by the prophet @abarker, may the ground be soft so that his kneeling be comfortable, the correct response is to find softer pastures to kneel or even lay on.
-
@DogsB it was plenty soft enough, just the warthog be kneeling harder than usual.
I’m in that space of having more ideas than I have either time or energy for.

What have you done?
Nothing interesting?
Remember when I sent you to that meeting to insert yourself into that project.
Yes...
When did I say commendeer it for your ends? I have six Jiras that I need to admin now.
Yeah, this ties into our Friday deadline. I want to solve them now so that I can be hungover towards the end of the week. I deployed it yesterday.
And left me with the admin?
you can take credit too.
like fuck. You're front and centre for this. Happy jiraing.

They're having problems with using an endpoint. NC is working but CURL isn't working. They updated the firewall rules and then tested with NC but not with CURL. I wonder if their attempt to hit the endpoint will work?

Gave up and disconnected the drive from the pool. Guess when that happened?
Suddenly the backlog of IO requests can mooove! 💨

Clearly! We had some silly corp reorg so I need to change groups to reflect the shiny new management structure. Apparently at the speed of one request per staff member per group. I’ve checked out like 20 times in the last hour and - surprise - my address hasn’t changed.

Because your company failed to configure something like ServiceNow incorrectly?
Add that to the cart and checkout.

It shouldn't really need IT to make changes to a distribution list at all.

I should add, this was a case of 'removing everyone who is currently in the list and readding the correct people' because IT cannot be trusted to successfully do a differential between 2 lists such that there are about 70 people in total of which about 55 are remaining on the list.

as the bodies hit the floor in a bloodless pile @royal_poet wondered briefly how the cleaning crew would react to the bodies. She left her needles at home so cleanup wouldn’t be too bad but as a courtesy she called the police and requested crime scene cleanup. She also locked the cleaner's entrance on the way out to spare them the trauma.

@Zerosquare I don't think I've ever hugged an IT person, but back when I had to deal with them frequently, I found that feeding them tended to produce favorable results. I didn't even have to provide the food. "Hey, there's leftover {pizza|birthday cake|whatever} in the break room."

Parsing that table shouldn't be hard. You can write a regex for that.
Nah, I'm going to do a quick string offset computation based on the header position.

Here, I wrote you a simple 80-character regex which will never break honest.
Here's the offset-based code I am going to use. It already passes tests.
