Help make my youtube feed better!!

My youtube feed is 20 percent good but mostly shit and the suggestions are even worse. I've made a new account. What channels have you subscribed to that are mindblowing - I'm looking for educational stuff, stuff to watch when having a meal, and documentary type channels.
Help me TDWTFers!

I'm looking for educational stuff, stuff to watch when having a meal, and documentary type channels.
If you like history, I'd recommend https://www.youtube.com/c/Drachinifel and https://www.youtube.com/c/BattleshipNewJersey. They're both narrowly focused on naval history (and Battleship New Jersey is even more narrowly focused on the history of that specific ship, of course), but I find them interesting. Then there's https://www.youtube.com/c/TheHistoryGuyChannel, which talks about all aspects of history, especially events that aren't particularly well-known.
For more general educational stuff, obviously it depends on what you're interested in being educated about. I've got a pretty good list on specific topics I'm interested in, if you happen to be interested in the same things. If you're interested in, say, music theory or 3D CGI graphics, I can make some recommendations.

I rarely watch YT, but these are my interests. What do you recommend?
-
@HardwareGeek Oh give me all the music theory related channels please!!!!
-
@Zecc For music, https://www.youtube.com/c/DBruce has good theory and composition content. I subscribed to his channel fairly recently and haven't watched a lot of it, but what I have watched is good. https://www.youtube.com/c/smalin is mostly for entertainment, but some of the visualizations he does can show how composers have used interesting harmonies (or the various melodic lines of contrapuntal music). https://www.youtube.com/user/richardatkinson2108 does detailed analysis of compositions by Mozart, Bach, Bruckner, etc.
For 3D graphics, I have quite a few, mostly focused on Blender (because that's what I use), but some techniques are applicable to other software, too.
https://www.youtube.com/c/CGCookieBlender is mostly teasers for their paid tutorials, but generally have good info even without paying for classes. (They also have a Discord server you can join for free.)
https://www.youtube.com/c/SardiPax does some very good, generally somewhat advanced, that are self-contained.
https://www.youtube.com/c/BlenderGuruOfficial
https://www.youtube.com/c/pixeltrain3DVFXTrainings
https://www.youtube.com/c/AlimayoArango
https://www.youtube.com/c/BlenderDiplom
https://www.youtube.com/c/BIenderHD
https://www.youtube.com/c/MTimtam is a mix of Blender techniques, other software techniques and other unrelated content.
https://www.youtube.com/c/ArtruismDigital is not Blender. She uses other software, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Houdini, etc., but some techniques may be transferable between programs.

Fun cooking channel:

@HardwareGeek I thought it would be the theory behind 3D graphics rather than the use of software, but it's all good.
https://www.youtube.com/c/InigoQuilez is unavoidable in that sense, I think.
-
@HardwareGeek said in Help make my youtube feed better!!:
The music theory channels seem to be in the intermediate / advanced level. Are there any that are more beginner-ish?

Interesting. I'll take a look at that later when I not supposed to be working.
-
@Dragoon This channel is a trillion times better than any beginner level music theory channels I've ever watched.
-
This channel just showed up in my suggestions: https://www.youtube.com/user/cminor314 It's about computer-generated music using Python. Edit: And some videos on theory that are in the intermediate/advanced zone.
-
@HardwareGeek This has got some interesting stuff. Subscribed!!!
You’re a gift that keeps on giving aren’t you!!!
-
@stillwater This just showed up in the suggestions for the last of those Python music videos that I just finished watching. I haven't watched it yet myself, and I have no idea what else is in that channel. It might or might not lead to more interesting music stuff.
-
@HardwareGeek Funny this should come up. I was looking for something similar a few years back couldn’t find it and gave up!! Please send any and all weird stuff you watch my way. My YouTube feed is starting to look pretty slick already!

The bad ideas thread is . (Although this isn't as bad an idea as saying the same thing to @Tsaukpaetra. ) I have, as of this moment, 78 channels that I subscribe to, and they're quite an eclectic mix. Trains, planes, ships, music theory, music to listen to (almost exclusively classical, including contemporary that definitely runs headlong into "weird" territory), 3D graphics how-to, short sci-films (some animated, some live-action), dance, metalworking, woodworking, and more. And there are even more that I watch somewhat regularly but don't subscribe to, like how not to drive (but I'm pretty sure those are antithetical to making your feed better).

You absolute monster... this was all part of your plan all along!

planes
Bring it on!!!!
With the caveat that these are about aviation and aviation safety, not about planes per se:
Bush pilot in Papua New Guinea (although he's currently back in the US for a year; his current videos are a mix of previously unpublished videos from PNG and what he's doing now in the States):
https://www.youtube.com/c/MissionarybushPilotMostly aviation safety:
https://www.youtube.com/user/blancolirioAviation safety:
https://www.youtube.com/c/MentourPilotaviationCommercial aviation industry:
https://www.youtube.com/c/MentourNowHumor — analysis of viral plane videos, "Hollywood vs. Reality" (aviation in movies and TV — I'm sure you'll be to learn Hollywood often doesn't score highly on reality), funny/embarrassing stories from airline flight crews, analysis of really, really, really, really bad safety advice from idiots on Tik-Tok:
https://www.youtube.com/c/74gearOther channels I watch fairly often when they appear in YT's suggestions, but I don't subscribe to them:

I like this group who are going through the World Wars with weekly updates of what happened back then (it's currently 1943) and a bunch of related history info.
If you're interested in older computers you might like these channels.
The 8-Bit Guy - 8-Bit Show and Tell - Adrian's Digital Basement - Jan Beta - LGR - RMC - The Cave
Defunctland started with short videos about long gone theme park rides but has grown into longer documentaries on topics related to (mostly Disney) theme parks and kids' television. My favorites are his videos on the failure of Disney's America, lines at theme parks and the Disney parks' attempts to deal with them, and a multi-part series on Jim Henson's career.
-
I like most of Simon Whistler's channels.
https://youtube.com/channel/UC0woBco6Dgcxt0h8SwyyOmw
That's one of them, find more under "channels"
Brain Blaze is a channel where he lampoons dumb things and goes off on tangents. Very tdwtf.
-
@Parody Yeah Defunctland is cool.
That reminds me that I like Technology Connections, too.

Not sure if it’s been featured much in the not-dumb-videos threads (I unfortunately don’t follow those as much as I should), but I’ve been watching a bunch of those lately. Like, everything you ever wanted to know about CDs, DVDs, DVD-Ram, “Plus vs Dash R and RW”, etc. Trinitron CRTs and “those aren’t pixels” …
I might have the opposite take on that: just give me time and power settings and fuck off with your “duck” buttons. But maybe that’s just because they don’t work as well as the thing he’s got.
-
@Captain List also reminded me of Tech Ingredients. Can be a bit of hit and miss, but has a few somewhat more in-depth videos. Clickbait-y titles, though.
-
Also it seems like Tim hasn't been mentioned yet ...

My YT feed is actually much better now!!!! First world problem: There is too much good content all I do now is add to "watch later" and never watch any videos.
-
Meanwhile, I haven't even finished watching all the Kurzgesagt videos yet, let alone anything else.
-
@Zecc On an unrelated note, if you are into them, get the book they published. It's the same quality but on paper it's crazy.
