VS Code Autoerase

VS code has issues with autocomplete when editing angular html files. Very often, autocompleting something (CSS class name, member variable, etc) inside of a double quoted attribute value, it wipes out at least the end quote, sometimes the name of the next attribute, if any.

Sounds like a bad idea.

I'm so glad I use an old version that doesn't have Clippy trying to "help" me (into an earlier grave).

The angular or the html?

@boomzilla I think it is a bug in the language server(s) they are using, as I've seem Eclipse do the same thing (well, in a slightly different context) and they might share the language server (which is supposed to be possible). I've no desire to dig in further; the language server protocol is pretty complicated, to the point where I'll only try unpacking the stack of assumptions it uses if paid to, but it could be different bits of the LS (or two of them) producing contradictory results and the GUI blindly applying both.

My favorite gripe about autocomplete:
Me: mistype something, like "frobulator" to "frobltor"
Me: put cursor back to frob|ltor
VSCode: Do you want me to complete "frobulator" for you?
Me: Why yes please!
VSCode: frobulatorltor

@Tsaukpaetra IntelliJ too does that I believe... We could say that whenever the programming language that the editor was written in includes "Java" in its name ... :D

Depends on which keyboard shortcut you use. One does this (inserts the autocompleted word, leaving everything right of the cursor as it is), the other overwrites everything up until the following syntax element (which sometimes means that sometimes it's a little too hungry).
I have no idea what happens if you use mouse, though.

It closes the context menu, doing nothing.

Well, as the old proverb says: He who does nothing, does nothing wrong!
