Mark as Read > Selected?

Used to be that you could click a user's avatar on the left to select the first (or multiple) then, optionally, shift-click another one further down to select a range.
Now clicking the avatar takes you to that person's profile page.
How does one select threads to be Marked As Read these days?
Tried 'old method' with
- Adblock turned off
- Stylus disabled
- No greasemonkey scripts
- Private window
- Firefox and Chrome

Works for me
Firefox 98.0.1 and W11.

Hmm - let's see what old site CSS is malingering in my profile then...

Nope - not that; cleared it out completely (only 95 lines) and no change.
Also changed skin back from Cerulian to Default. No change.
- Ubuntu 21.10
- Chrome Version 99.0.4844.51 (Official Build) (64-bit)
- Firefox 98.0.1 (64-bit)
- Different laptop - same OS/Browsers
Any other suggestions?

Grubbing around in the Inspector, there doesn't seem to be an actual checkbox - or a proxy for one - in there for me.

Grubbing around in the Inspector,
And the Console (after forced refresh on that page,) not sure if relevant:

@PJH I get the same errors with main.js from the Facebook-SSO plugin and selecting the topics still works fine
-
Doesn't work for me either, Windows 10 and Chrome 99.0.4844.74 or Firefox 98.0.1.
Tried removing my custom CSS and I already use the Default theme, no change.
I have no extensions that could mess with it in Chrome or Firefox.
I even tried changing some settings (homepage and pagination), no change.Granted, I'm not personally impacted, I don't tend to mark threads as read using that route, I jump in and read or skim to the end.
-
It's been broken for me for... months? Perhaps to NodeBB updates ago.
-
, at least for the selecting part. Firefox 91.7.0esr, linux.

the Facebook-SSO plugin
Hmm...yeah, I think I borked those from when I was looking to upgrade NodeBB. Been meaning to get back to fixing that. Last effort was thwarted by git and I've been reluctant to go back.

We all know those feels, bro.

More exploration:
-
NewDifferent machine:- Firefox 98.0
- Ubuntu 20.04
same behaviour....
First machine again
- rarely used pseudonyms under Private FF Window, with no settings changed
Same, again.
-
VM under Ubuntu, on work machine (previous boxen have been ones at home, 4th computer I've tried.)
- Win 10
- Edge 96.0.1054
Same behaviour.
- Brand new user in Private Window
Same behaviour.
This is going to be something stupidly simple on my end, isn't it?
-
I'm on Ubuntu 20.04. Just tried on Chrome 99.0.4844.74 and FF 97.0.2. Behavior was the same on each:
- Not logged in: navigates to the user's profile
- Logged in: selects topic
-
I can’t select topics on unread, recent, nor category pages. Firefox, but I’d guess it’s a weird server bork, maybe.

Bother. I didn't even think about that. I've fixed the screenshot in the OP.
Anyway. I'm not a mod; haven't been for ages.

Works for me too. Windows something, Firefox something. For reference, this is how it looks like for me in inspector:
For some reason, my
<div class="select...
becomes an<a>
for you.Can we swap computers? Personally I hate this feature.
-
@Gąska said in Mark as Read > Selected?:
Huh? There's supposed to be a checkbox? I don't remember that ever working for me. I, too, have an
<a ... >
, not a<div ... >
.
