Posting is a pain on desktop and mobile.

On desktop, some script causes horrible lag only this textbox and this textbox alone. On mobile, there's the problem where I can only type about six lines because it can't scroll.
-
My "can't scroll" workaround for when I'm on mobile is to hit the return "key" lots of times, which will allow scrolling.
What's the error you get on desktop? Also, what browser are you using (name and version)?

Severe lag, eventually, if the preview pane is visible. I'll sometimes get about 7 characters typed in real-time and then it'll stall for a few seconds. It's hard to move the cursor or select anything because the stalling occurs there too. Sometimes crashing and restarting the browser works to clear it up for a while but it has to be a full crash because reloading or closing and reopening the tab doesn't help.
I do not seem to have this problem anywhere near as often with the preview pane turned off.

@Zenith oh, I thought that maybe there was some error in the js console. Has this been going on for long? I notice you're one behind on the chrome major version release.
So, but...wow, it almost sounds like the whole OS is stalling out? Is chrome eating all your RAM or something? Or is the CPU getting pegged (INB4 )?

Seems likely. He hasn't got a lot.
-
@boomzilla The problems on this PC are basically localized to Chrome. It eats a ton of RAM (CPU rarely rises over 20% except during Chrome launch/relaunch) and the amount consumed by the "browser" process steadily grows until the only option is killing it. The TDWTF lag issue and the mobile issue started around the same time a few months back.

So something in Javascript is a leaky pile of shit?

The S in JavaScript should be capitalized.
-
to the objection!
Yes, it should be JavaScript. However I believe we should not merely categorise it as shit but a leaky pile of shit as a whole. The whole ecosystem continues to fester and leak shit, from its multiple packaging contexts (CommonJS vs AMD vs ES2015), to its library environments (npm), to the rapidity and proliferation of frameworks (reminiscent of mayflies), to the multiple attempts to reinvent the DOM (React, Ember), to the ridiculous API scope creep (WebUSB)
It all needs to be taken our back and shot.

Amazingly, I find no convenient image or video of using high-caliber ammunition on a barrel of excrement. Internet, you have failed me!

They're not the same thing, either. JScript is a MS-specific implementation that is almost but not quite the same as JavaScript, if memory serves. It's been 15 years since I last had to look at the JScript docs though.

I'm calling a driver issue. It should be very rare that your mouse cursor should ever lag or stall, even at 100% load.
Anecdote: Even when my system was actually out of resources and handles, the mouse cursor was able to be moved. It made a PC beep clicking sound (because magic?) every tick, but it moved...

The cursor moves. It just takes forever for the effect to show in the textbox.
